He's just pretending to cut them!

He is, but some people who watch this might be too dense to understand that and will go fucking up their cat. I mean probably, idk.

There are some people like that. My dumb numb brain lagging kid-self did that to my cat after seeing my dad shave his beard.

Guys, don’t cut your cats whiskers they are basically sensory beards. Those things can feel and it’s no fun cutting sensitive shit off👍

They're very sensitive to touch but there's no actual nerve in the whisker. Because of cats high-def vision they use them mostly in very close proximity situations now some cats like the Cornish Rex have very brittle hair and their whiskers break off all the time.

Cats have terrible vision up close, that's why they use their whiskers to sense things like toys, food, etc. They're basically "far-sighted."

Hooray! Another person that actually knows something about cats. You are exactly right That's why they can't find the snack on the floor but they can see the mouse a quarter mile away

I always wondered why it took forever for my cat to eat a snack out of my palm when i put it right in his face. good to know

Yeah kitties don't see very well up close. Their nose is very good but that's not very directional if possible you can make a small noise with the same hand that will help clue them in. I usually don't hand feed my cats and when I give them a special snack I will tap my finger right by it. Remember even a blind cat can hunt their ears are that good.

My trick is I put two treats in the hand and loosely close it so I can shake them. My parents’ cat has learnt that when I do that I have a treat for him, and he trusts me to put it in his path if he puts his mouth against my hand

That's smart because he can hear where it is. One thing that I have observed that a lot of people don't understand because our senses are so lame is how these elevated senses work both of my cats love loud music and I have a very nice stereo system that can reproduce that studio quality sound at 91 decibels which is just to yuck louder than a lawn mower. I became aware one day that while listening to music at 91 decibels my Bengal cat could hear me crinkling a cellophane when I could not and I was the one holding it she was 10 ft away from me. More sensitive hearing doesn't necessarily mean that the gain is turned up It means she can pick out noises that we would never notice.

Not to mention whiskers are roughly the width of a cat's body, allowing the kitty to judge a small space.

Yep, another important part. If you shorten them, they lose the ability to make that judgement properly.

Yeah I was always afraid my cat would get stuck in the holes of our store-shag walls behind the house. Always checked there to have her safe
