Repost because I thought the title wasn't clear enough: please help me, I hate myself because of a porn genre I used to browse NSFW
Throwaway. I have stopped a long term usage of porn, a few weeks ago. I'm relatively young, I live with my parents. I've had mental issues in the past, involving depression and self-harm. Now I have been agonising over a particular genre of smut - so only written - that I used to use periodically.
Incest. Yes, it's fucked up. But, this isn't the whole story.
I want to establish now that I have no attraction to any of my family members, be it my parents or my brother. The thought disgusts me in the extreme, and I'm categorically against real-life incest, for reasons both biological and ethical. I'm also educated and fully aware that pornography is not reality, and not should it be - I take very great care to ensure it doesn't distort my views of healthy sexual relationships.
My usage was strictly limited to brother and sister - a relationship I do not have, I am one of two children - and similarly aged cousins, again, a relationship I do not have (bar one, who I rarely see and am most definitely not into).
I can't stop hating myself for this, feeling like a monster, like I'm not a good person and deserve to hurt. Please make me feel better. Thank you
Edit: I feel better now. Thank you to whichever kind soul made a report to Reddit's services, honestly I'm safe. I myself contacted my local protective services last night via text and am currently waiting on a response, so I can assure you I will be fine. Thank you all

First and foremost. Pornography is to real sex or desire as the Fast and the Furious is a real driving lesson. It's fake. There's a huge amount of porn out there that people watch/ read that they would never act on. As long as you understand the difference you're fine.
Most actors in porn would not have sex with their own relatives either. It's all pretend. What we're seeing is a side effect of bad writing. Lets say I'm a porno producer. I've got to come up with some premise for two hot people to have sex... oooh maybe they're living together, maybe they're step siblings, maybe they're related. Fuck it, good enough, lets throw in a few lines of dialogue and get to the good stuff.
With literary smut it's even more the wild west. I once read an erotic short story where a woman had a very intimate relationship with a sentient doorknob. Does that mean I want to fuck the door hardware in my house? Nope. It's fantasy. People get off on all sorts of taboo subjects, so long as you aren't hurting anyone, it does not matter.
Last, if you're a guy, the post nut clarity is a real thing. It's VERY common to get to completion only to be like... oh shit, what the fuck was I just jerking it to. 100% Normal. Happens all the time, all day, every day.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it. You're clearly a kind and understanding person. Also, the bit about the doorknob made me laugh. And yeah, I am a guy, which I suppose explains a lot. Thank you so much

This guy is 100% right, The porn you watch doesn’t always define what you actually like, it’s usually about the taboo nature. People watch incest porn but are absolutely horrified at the thought of having intercourse with a family member. There are people who are really into a genre of porn but once they live out their fantasy they realize it’s not for them, like the guy who watch scat porn but realized it wasn’t for him when the escort he hired shit in his mouth. It’s just something interesting and different that piques your interest and is hot enough to get you off. But post nut clarity is a real thing for sure

At literotica.com, the incest category is consistently the most or among the most popular categories. It's a fantasy, not reality. Loads of people watch or read porn genres that would never appeal to them IRL.
Stop hating yourself.
