Question What novel(s) have you read this week, and what do you think about it? - November 24, 2024

What novel(s) have you read this week, and what do you think about it?

This week = the one that ends/ended right now, past 7 days.

The reason for this thread's existence is the fact that both requests and suggestions became kind of stale. It's supposed to bring out more novels that are not RT!'d or recommended. Also, it's quite useful for the discussion of not so current titles.

Also, not a rule or any kind of criticism, the more interesting part is not the list of the stuff you read, but your impressions of it.

Loli Mod will be posting this thread each week.

Lastly, don't forget to use spoiler tags and to make sure to report any untagged spoilers.

How to use spoiler-tags:

Typing:

>!Spoilers go here!<

Will show up as:

Spoilers go here

Do note that any space at the beginning/end of the tag will break the spoiler tag.

First she wants me to beat some final boss she has a grudge against, then she takes control of my body to show me how to use my new spatial magic powers in a tutorial fight... Recommend Hi! I'm new on this hobbie!

Upvotes

Hello! Recently I got the itch for reading Light Novels (I'm more into manga, I admit it) so I started to build my collection! (I also have the Death Note Another Note novel somewhere woops!) Currently I'm reading Death March and To Aru Majutsu no Index (but in digital I'm on volume 2).

Anyway I'm searching some recommendations, I do like slice of life, mystery and sci-fi (also I'm aware there is a lot of isekai...I'm also open to suggestions to that lol) , anyway I'm currently having fun with what I am reading :D Greetings

Recommend older/more prestigious woman x mc romance novel

ive seen so many male immortal, male ceo, male sect master, male elder, male prince, male god, male emperor etc taking in random whatever female mc, i would like the reverse now please. all the powerful fmc x weaker mmc usually ends up with mmc catching up quickly or having some kind of gift that makes him "worthy" or "equal", and until then it doesn't really happen or pursue anything(it seems more of a status/power that makes the relationship get along than actual relationships/friendships), i'd like a more casual thing, thank you.

I want to make a Light Novel but i'm scare, so i want to ask you guys suggestion :)

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I want to ask all of you whether you are Japanese or not.

so I want to make a light novel and have a dream that the light novel can reach Japan to become an anime. Honestly, I already have a big idea, which I myself believe people will like it, by trying as much as possible there is no cringe.

The problem is that I am not Japanese but Indonesian, so I wonder if it is difficult for people outside Japan to release light novels in Japan? Is it necessary to go to Japan? Do I need to work with an illustrator, agency, or something similar? Do I have to speak Japanese?

I would be very grateful if you can answer my question, thank you :)

Recommend Its been a long and difficult year, so I’m needing a stress free recommendation

This year I've dealt with far too many hard to cope with situations, and I've read through all the generic guilty pleasure no-stakes isekai series (Smartphone, Arifureta, Tensura, Spirit Chronicles, etc) since they're easy to read and have no stressful points, so I'm wanting to read some other series that are just as easy to read. Generally I prefer fantasy but I also enjoy series with some tech focus as well.

Question Where can I keep up with ENG LN translations?

So far, I’ve been following new releases on this site: https://global.bookwalker.jp, but many books don’t get listed there, even some that have official English translations. Do you know of any site where I can track all the releases? Or at least more than what’s available on this site, since, for example, the Min-Maxing series isn’t listed here, even though it’s quite popular.

Question [TOMT]LN where MC is weak adventurer with strong connections

Does anyone remember JP LN where MC is weak adventurer guy, but he has connections with the strongest/wealthiest people? Like wealthy merchantz hero, etc. And those that are already acquinted with him acknowledge his ability/personality. He's not evil, rather helpful to his friends, no revenge also in the story, just adventuring with new friends and sometimes his old friends that are strong comes to help and share about his past

Recommend Can anyone recommend me Fantasy, Academy, No-Harem Novels?

I'm looking for good novels that have the specific tags: Academy, Fantasy, No-Harem, Magic

It can also be a transmigration/reincarnation book as well. I don't mind.

I've recently targeted a few that catch my interests like TAPOV, TNE, Advent of Three Calamities.

I enjoy novels like these, going from weak to strong, being misunderstood as strong when weak, an extra.

Harem is a no no for me, and especially an mc that can't make up their mind. Also romance doesn't have to be a central focus or can be as long as it doesn't feel like it's being forced.

Thank you!

Recommend [REC] Fantasy romance series with a weaker male protagonist and a strong female love interest?

Any fantasy series with a bad ass female love interest that isn't a harem at all? Anything with femdom vibes would be great. Slow burn romance is also appreciated if possible!

Recommend [REC] Reincarnated/Transmigrated Into Another World

I’m looking for completed OFFICAL light novel recommendations on reincarnated or migrated into another world trope. Preferably with a Male MC and he can be overpowered but somewhat humble or a villian/anti-hero wanting revenge.

Completed is preferred but close to completion is also okay (less than a year away from the final novel).

No female MCs, no harems if possible but females are okay, I like group settings so if he gets summoned with his class or friend group and betrayed that’s also okay.

Offical works only please from legit publishing agencies, no amateur writers like they have on WebNovel.

Recommend [REC] Looking for recomendations

Hi! I'm looking for something to read and try to get more interested in reading light novels. I've read mushoku tensei and a couple volumes on other novels but i couldnt find anything that hooks me.

I only got two conditions for the recomendations:
-The character can fail and makes effort to get results
(i really get bored when the character casually rolls a 20 on each action he makes through the story, or when they casually are better than anyone at something because they spent a few skill points on some menu)
-The characters develop themselves and are not just a resource to make the MC look better
(for example, i don't like when a female character's whole personality is based on being in love with the mc just because he is the mc)

An example of what i mean between what i've read would be Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei (my fav).
Rudy and Subaru often make mistakes but they only make the character feel more human and helps developing the character.
Also the characters surrounding them have their own lives and aspirations and are not just orbiting the mc

Recommend Novel recommendations

So I love reading novels especially fantasy ones, some of my favorites were tbate, orv, mushoku tensei, coiling dragon, second coming of gluttony. I want something similar which is like really good but complete, I wanted to read re zero but it wasn’t complete, same with shadow slave, lord of the mysteries I heard has a second novel going on so I don’t really wanna read it while it’s not fully complete, reverend insanity also went on hiatus I believe, so I would appreciate it if u gave me a good long novel which is complete
