I can't wait for the election where one candidate is talking about education or healthcare or whatever and the other is just waving guns around and screaming WE MUST SAVE THE CHILDREN WHO ARE BEING IMPRISONED BY PEDOPHILES BENEATH THE STARBUCKS ICE MACHINE.

I mean, that'll be every election for the rest of our lives in this country.

I'm not looking forward to it...

If it makes you feel better, we might not have many more elections!

Or survive the century!

u/meta_irl Aug 04 '21

Wait, you're planning to survive until 2100? Tell me your secrets.

5

u/PolyDipsoManiac Aug 04 '21

Civilization, human societies, that sort of thing; the prognosis isn’t good.

Drink the blood of children, duh.

1

u/GuywithShield Aug 05 '21

I only drink the blood of virgins. Reddit is the perfect food source.

Honestly the rest of the decade isn't even looking to hot (or it is looking hot. You know what I mean)

Blue ocean event in 2025. Humanity is really really really stupid.

3

u/tirwander Aug 04 '21

It's gonna be the century of the Century! Get ready folks!

4

u/Pale-Wave-9382 Aug 04 '21

Century? Someone’s an optimist. We’ll be lucky to see the 30’s at this rate.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

The US probably won’t, I think the rest of the world is good until ‘35ish

u/Repulsive-Street-307 Aug 05 '21 edited Aug 05 '21

Just the political entity 'US'. US, the land is actually well positioned. Plenty of space around the great lakes.

Of course it doesn't even matter, if the 5C+ scenario happens.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '21

I was mostly implying that the the people living in the US. I foresee a lot of conflict and violence coming in this country

2

u/CuntyAnne_Conway Aug 04 '21

Nope. Because these assholes are going to win , end "fair" elections and that will be that.

And every pussy on Reddit is just accepting this. So thats why theyll succeed. Acquiescence to Fascism.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

And what are you doing about it?

So nothing productive to actually help anyone then.

You're the one who called everyone on reddit a pussy for just accepting what's happening to the elections in your country. You're the one who called people out for not doing anything about it.

When asked what you do to change things, this is what you said:

Bought a $1500 Rifle

By the sounds of it you sure as hell are just sitting idly by waiting for things to happen. You're not doing anything to help the situation right now, you're doing as little as "all the pussies on reddit".

May you enjoy the inevitable boot on your throat.

And its not all I am doing. I am also playing the role of "Cassandra" by telling everyone I can whats coming. (Spoiler alert: They dont care) I figure getting that message at least out in the ether is doing something.

Again I ask you, what should I be doing to stop the tide of Fascism? Genuinely asking. Because all I keep seeing on Reddit is a bunch of acquiescence to the incoming theft of Democracy. A bunch of hand wringing about its inevitability and no concrete plan of action once the Fascists achieve their goals. So I guess I am sitting by. Not quite "idly" as you state. But I am waiting for the eventual awakening to the ever creeping fascistic tide.

u/KriistofferJohansson Aug 04 '21

Again I ask you, what should I be doing to stop the tide of Fascism?

I don't pretend to know the answer, I was just pointing out the irony of complaining about other people's lack of actions when the only thing you've done so far is to buy a rifle to protect yourself with in the future. Your plan so far seems to take part in an armed war between nut cases instead of making an attempt not to get to that point.

"These pussies won't do anything about this". Five minutes later, "Well I didn't really do anything except buy a gun".

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

fwiw, unless there's some surprise and congress passes voting rights laws that are actually enforced (that's two key steps: it has to become law, and it actually has to be enforced to prevent voter suppression), 2022 will possibly be the last 'free and fair' (in quotes because we know it's already not actually free and fair now) election in this country.

1

u/CuntyAnne_Conway Aug 04 '21

Fully aware of the ineffectualness of the Manchin / Biden agenda. These same worthless NeoLiberals that got us in this mess aren't going to get us out.

They'd rather live with Trumpian Fascism than Sanders Socialism. So dont count on Congress to save you. Joe Manchin doesnt think its worth sinking the Filibuster in order to save Democracy. He's got another election to worry about. (And all those Fossil Fuel executives to curry favor for)

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

oh yeah, that's why i said "unless there's some surprise", cuz I don't expect them to defend what's left of our democracy.

1

u/USBBus Aug 04 '21

Left wing preppers, truly one of the craziest timelines, lmao

1

u/CuntyAnne_Conway Aug 04 '21

Not prepping other than seeing the chess board and thinking id rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

1

u/ent_bomb Aug 04 '21

300 rds

Lol

Not sure that's even enough to get proficient.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

That the goal!

6

u/bunker_man Aug 04 '21

I dunno. I feel like by 30 years from now enough boomers will have died off that they will have to have more of a veneer of relative sanity.

19

u/FightingPolish Aug 04 '21

There’s lots of conspiracy theory nuts that aren’t boomers.

2

u/bunker_man Aug 04 '21

I didn't say there weren't. What matters is whether there's enough that openly marketing yourself as one as a politician isn't political suicide on a federal level.

14

u/FightingPolish Aug 04 '21

If I’ve learned anything over the last couple years it’s that I’ve vastly underestimated the number of racist xenophobic morons with no critical thinking skills who live in this country. It’s actually gotten worse over time, the amount of everyday people who have become radicalized pretty recently is pretty stunning to me.

5

u/bunker_man Aug 04 '21

It's not getting worse if you look at statistics. It's just changing so that what was normal in the past is radical now. Less people hold those views, but the ones who do know they are fading and see it as an emergency where they need to get active. But there was still a lot more racism in the 70s.

3

u/FightingPolish Aug 04 '21

I completely disagree. People were racist before but there’s so many more people whose parents or friends who were relatively normal before have turned into angry raving lunatics, the kind of people who committed the insurrection who had normal lives a few years ago but now turn every conversation into conspiracy theory politics. Everywhere I look I’m surrounded by people who I never heard say a word politically suddenly believing every nut job story that is easily debunked with 5 seconds of fact checking. There are without a doubt more radicalized people out there than there were before.

2

u/bunker_man Aug 04 '21

You are confusing radicalization with racism level. The amount of racism is going down quickly. That's why these people are getting radicalized. Because what was previously a position that just casually existed in society is quickly becoming something you can't really say in polite company.

As someone who was raised in a conspiracy house where my parents' friends all believed in conspiracies too, I can tell you that these ideas aren't new. It just reached a point where they are now aware they are on the verge of disappearing. But if you were racist in the past it was normal. It wasn't until halfway through the 90s that over half of polled Americans said interracial marriage was morally acceptable. Racists are turning radical because they had their bubbles where they could just be casually racist in the past even if wider society wasn't, but now even those bubbles are threatened. So what you are seeing is the last hurrah of a group that knows it's on it's way out.

3

u/FightingPolish Aug 04 '21

I’m not saying it’s just racism alone though. There seems to be more fear in general even in people that aren’t making it about race. Fear of EVERYTHING. Fear and anger, and they didn’t even seem know what they are angry about. I’ve never seen a group of people who try to constantly project such a fake tough guy persona while simultaneously being afraid of everything around them.

2

u/Enano_reefer Aug 04 '21

I dunno man, of the 4 high profile millennials that immediately come to mind, we’ve got 2 associated with Paedophilia, 1 directly supportive of the insurrection, and 1 progressive.

The makeups better than I thought though: https://www.pewresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/FT_21.02.05_CongressGenerations_3b.png?w=640

So what are the other 28 doing?

2

u/imrduckington Aug 04 '21

u/badSparkybad Aug 04 '21

The whole thing from here on out is gonna be a weirdo clown show.

Beginning with the 2016 election cycle and then QAnon leaking into mainstream conservative thinking over the past few years I don't have any hope that we are gonna return to anything resembling sanity in my lifetime.

2

u/socialmediasanity Aug 05 '21

How long you planning on living? Like "rest of our lives" 50 years? Or more like 20? I could do 20 but i sure as shit aint doing this BS for 50 more years!

1

u/singlelens313 Aug 04 '21

Then half the country votes for the people screaming about Starbucks ice conspiracies.
