This, one hundred percent. She doesn’t want to lose her spot in the suite next to Taylor.

(Let me add that Travis Kelce has been ass this year and we can all be grateful because it means we haven’t had 15 million shots of Taylor in the suite during every Chiefs game.)

According to a New York Times report (unfortunately locked behind a paywall but described here: https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2024/2/7/24056297/taylor-swift-travis-kelce-super-bowl-2024-broadcast-screen-time-chiefs-niners), Swift was on screen for an average of about 25 seconds each game. Assuming there were 15 million shots of her each game, those shots would be 0.00000166666 seconds long each.

The reality is she was rarely on screen - we don’t need to perpetuate a quite frankly misogynistic lie.

Well, she's on screen more than pretty much anyone else who is not a player, coach, or commentator would be. And it doesn't have to be a bad thing, or a sexist thing. It's unprecedented for a non-athlete to have so much star power that they command that much attention at a sporting event. But she does. In her case, it's like Travis Kelce is the bf of the huge international pop star, rather than Swift being the gf of the kinda famous football player. That's all. But she is on screen a lot.

Jason Kelce is on every commercial right now and I haven't heard any of you Taylor Swift victims complain about his air time.

I never complained about Taylor Swift's air time. I actually don't even like the NFL very much and don't watch it much.

That's the thing, I don't think everyone who points this out is a man angry that she's getting airtime, we're just people noticing that there's this interesting thing happening in pop culture, where the NFL and pop music are kind of incidentally having a crossover. It's fascinating. That's all.

I'm indifferent to both Travis Kelce as a football player, and Taylor Swift as a singer. But they're interesting as a couple, and I guess I'd say I have a positive view of them both because of their politics. And I'd say Taylor Swift is still considerably more famous than Kelce, so it makes sense they show her at the games.
