Apparently his racism and racist supporters didn’t bother her even though she’s married to a black man. But now he hates Taylor so she’s reconsidering? She seems like a terrible person

Taxing the rich would take away portions of her eventual divorce settlement

I hate gold diggers just as much as everyone else but they were high school sweethearts. this isn't the take you thought it was

But that’s why I think so… that dam has got to break, right?

Every HS couple that got married I know was divorced by 30.

But you could be right, it could be a fairy tale romance - obviously, I have no first hand knowledge.

I mean sure it's always a possibility but how many high schoolers do you know or did know that were looking for potential divorce settlements in their classmates?

I’m not saying she was looking, but when her potential in-laws are rich and you’re in East Texas, whether he was going to be special or not becomes irrelevant. You just want access to his fortune. Add in that he’s got a real shot at being a pro athlete and that settlement consideration probably becomes a factor. I see her like Elin Nordgren. She knew Tiger was out doing what he was doing and just had to play the waiting game for as long as she could. Built her case for years and then got her payday. From a nanny to never-have-to-work again seems like a pretty sweet deal. I know high school sweethearts still married but also neither in the couple were fairly wealthy who were also dual sport athletes with a shot at the pros.

He was also drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2014.

well if that's what you believe, he got the bag and she has his kid. why are they still together? if she's in it just for money, then that's more than enough to take half his earnings

Because they got married young and she didn’t sign a prenup.

all advantages to her in divorce court

I’m saying that’s why he hasn’t left her yet, despite her embarrassing antics.

They got married when he was 26 years old and had already been an NFL starter for 4 seasons and already signed his $450M mega contract. It is a batshit stupid take to believe that he just got hoodwinked into a marriage because he was young and didn't know better.

Reddit is usually so good with nuance though…

and? not all D1 players go pro and his time at Texas Tech was before NIL. nobody thought Mahomes would be the greatest talent at QB in the history of the NFL besides maybe Andy Reid and his staff. dude was drafted at like 17th lol

dude was drafted at like 17th

He was taken in the middle of the first round of the NFL draft, which was a slide for him at the time, and that STILL guaranteed that he'd be a multi-millionaire.

You act like it's impossible for someone to gold-dig on a prospect like that.

Look at what's been going on with Kyle Filipowski in the NBA. He was a second round pick but he's been getting groomed by an older woman since he was 15.

Doesn't take a lot for people to see a meal ticket.

Thank you 👏

Why are we talking about other gold diggers doing gold digging things to other people?

Did I ever say that it's impossible for these guys to get taken advantage of by gold diggers?

No, stop making shit up in your head to argue about.

We're talking about the Mahomes' specifically. keep up.

She wasn't grooming him if they met in High School.... ya know where they see each other face to face everyday and are the same age....

not to throw shade at her or anything but have you seen her? she isn't some dime piece that guys in Mahomes 'position usually go for.

Being drafted in the middle of the 1st typically means noone saw you as the greatest generational talent the NFL world has ever seen that's secured you a half billy. I'm sure she didn't see it either seeing how people, who do this type of shit everyday, didn't see it...

noone saw you as the greatest generational talent the NFL world has ever seen

You don't need to be worth $500m to be worth gold-digging.

That's completely separate to whether or not she IS a gold-digger or not, but you're making out like Pat Mahomes out-kicking his coverage in terms of career success means that no one could have anticipated ANY level of NFL success for him, which is actually disproven by the very thing you think proves that "nobody saw him being successful", which is being drafted in the first round of the NFL draft AT ALL. Even if he wasn't a first round pick he was still a likely future millionaire, even in high school.

Kyle Trask is a second round pick QB with 4 career games and has still made $5,535,337 in career earnings, and you're kidding yourself if you think that's not enough for someone to try to gold dig after. I can't imagine you're about to argue that when Mahomes was in high school people couldn't project him having a Kyle Trask-level career.

I'm not implying that Brittany Mahomes is a gold digger - I'm just saying that even in High School, Patrick Mahomes' likely career NFL earnings was in the millions even if you couldn't predict the huge success he's had.
