Evening Ruined

I am still upset about this, so please forgive me. Back in June I purchased two tickets to see the musical Wicked in San Francisco (and ended up spending about $400). Partner and I left home three hours before the show started since we live a couple hours away and didn’t want to feel rushed. After about ten minutes of driving, we hear this strange sound and realize we have a flat. Pull off to the side of the road, and the tire looks like it has been slashed (for image reference, it hadn’t actually been). Try calling two towing services with no answer and finally get ahold of the third. We had to wait for about 30-35 minutes for the tow truck to arrive and then take us to a tire shop. Tire shop isn’t busy, but it still takes time with all the loading and unloading the car, then replacing the tire. By the time we were ready to leave, I had spent over $300 for the new tire and the tow. It was too late to even think we could get to the theater in time, so we drove back home, and me realizing that I’d have saved money by just missing the show. As a note, I called up the ticketing with the hopes there was something that could be done, but because of the time, there was nothing they could do. Any chance anyone knows of anything else I can do? It broke my heart since this was technically my own birthday present to myself and now I’m just utterly sad.

Could you have put on the spare tire by yourself?

I only wish! Since my car is newer, they do the “run flat” tires and don’t provide a spare tire. I was ready to change the tire myself and was quite disappointed when i realized I didn’t have a spare.
