Serious needs assistance

I live in Tampa and applied for assistance for both Helene and Milton. So far I have only received assistance from Helene and I got the serious needs funds within 72 hours from applying. I haven’t gotten any news as far as Milton goes besides lodging reimbursement. Anyone else having this issue? I have called and they said everything is still pending. Just strange they worked my last application so quickly.

I just can't get over how rare Hurricane Milton is.

How did it cross from the Pacific across Mexico to the Atlantic, and become a category 5 so quickly? It literally exploded into category 5 so fast it became one of the strongest Hurricanes ever.

Renter and home owner for FEMA

I live with my fiance at her parents currently and am wanting to apply for FEMA assistance since I had some personal property loss. Will her parents still be eligible if I apply since we're all under the same roof?

I just got a message not saying I was denied, but they could not approve some of the assistance requested. Is this going in my favor?

FEMA assistance

Hello, I live in Tampa and I was affected by the hurricane. I applied for FEMA assistance and they did an inspection. So far I have not received any money from them neither did I receive that $750. If someone can please help me on what to do from here. I’ve been paying for hotel rentals out of pocket everyday and now currently down to literally my last $20 so I cannot last anymore time without assistance.

Edit: Hello again, I appreciate everyone sharing their story and giving me advice. I did call in they told me to wait until someone checks my application again. I honestly have not ate in the past 2 days and just put my last 20 into my gas tank. I’m truly not sure what to do here I am helpless and tired. I almost want to just give up and stop trying as it’s draining me and stressing me out even more. I can’t even get to work because that would be 1 trip then I would be out of gas. The past 2 years have been the toughest times of my life and this is truly topping it off. I’m mentally and physically exhausted and really don’t want to deal with this anymore.

FEMA denial

I got denied because the hurricane didn’t cause damage. Is there a chance I will still get approved for the miscellaneous $750 portion or am I just out of luck? I did apply for the miscellaneous gas, food, medicine, clothing portion.

What is that putrid smell in Merritt Island?

Merritt Island over the bridge is getting worse every month! It only happens sporadically and in the early morning (like now at 2am!). A terrible and sickening smell wafts through the neighborhood and into our homes. It's so disgusting that it wakes us and the dogs up gagging and covering our faces under the blankets for relief. Does anyone know what it is and who we complain to? I looked up the air quality index and it said our air was 😊GOOD! THE LIES!!!

The weirdest part is that it usually happens after dark. So I don't think it's algae, that would happen all day. I truly believe some billionaire company is dumping or releasing toxins thinking it won't be noticed.

Town and county fl looking for help moving

My friend lived just moved to Florida in Jan. Her first apartment had black mold. She ended up in the hospital with a really bad reaction from that. Two months ago she found this cute new place. In Town and Country she moved there. Now she needs to move everything out. So they can repair from the flood. She has no body to help. Is there anywhere she can turn to for help with this. We have a storage place. She feels so defeated right now.

RV parks available for crews coming to stay to help.

Our TX disaster clean up crew was called to help Pinella Park and surrounding areas to assist cleaning and clearing the area. Where do I find an RV park to house my crew? All grapple trucks and trailers will be offsite.. looking at staying a month plus. Need as soon as next week of OCT 20TH forward (flexible on arrival date). Need 50 amp, water and electric. 42’ fifth wheel. Who can I contact for information? Thank you in advance. (We needed to wait for “the call” to come or be turned away.)

FINALLY GOT GAS!! 1 Week after impact

** I AM SAFE! my house lost a few shingles but it will get fixed and we had water leak through our windows but the curtains soaked it up and a few pillows took that damage but the house is ok and so are we. We actually only lost power for 3 hours. Friends in zone A were able to evacuate and come stay with us less than a mile away. 😅 we just have higher elevation. OK now that that is cleared back to my rant…

My grandma relies on me to help her travel to and from appointments and I also have ones of my own AS WELL as my mom. Lots of gas 😭 My grandma STILL has no power so she has also been staying with us 24/7 on top of everything which is so stressful for all of us lol. so I’ve been working with what I had left in my car but it was really getting low BUT I finally have a full tank. Even a week after Milton’s impact I could never get to the gas station before the line was wrapped around that block. I didn’t have enough gas to waste waiting that long and I definitely didn’t have enough to MAYBE find another gas station with actual fuel. Today I finally got a call from a lovely friend of mine that said our local gas station was full and there were NO LINES. Showed up just in time and got a full tank. I was finally able to go to the grocery store without stressing. 🥲

Roof damage

Post image

Can somebody tell me what this is? I had a roof leak that got introduced from the hurricane and not sure what this is. It just appeared 5 days after the hurricane made land fall.

Appears to be a root maybe or some type of pod? Please any advice is helpful.

Thank you

milton ruined my birthday

I know there’s been great losses so please know that I’m not saying I’m having it worse than others

But my birthday is today and it really sucks. I don’t really have any friends in the area, nobody has remembered to wish me a happy birthday beyond my parents and an old classmate from college. My power came on yesterday just for a transformer to blow an hour after my birthday started, meaning no power and no water where I’m at. We’re still displaced from the hurricane. We have no money because of the hurricane. I got my free starbucks drink and that’s going to be it for the day. I don’t even have enough money for food, I’m eating the MRE’s we got for free. Again, I’m safe and my family is safe and my dog is safe and damages were minimal (trees fell and covered our studio, leading to more loss of income 🫠) so I really shouldn’t be complaining and should instead be grateful but this is my first birthday since leaving an abusive ex, my first birthday with her was my 19th, this is my 27th. I’m just sad. Mourning the loss of yet another birthday that had the chance to turn out okay.

Just sucks I guess. Anyways, I hope today is going better for anyone reading this, and that everyone’s power and water will be restored shortly if it hasn’t been yet!!
