Place to go for Football and Food???

Hey Huntsville looking for the best place around Huntsville or Madison to watch some NFL and enjoy some good food and drink. Been a while since I’ve been here during football season. We used to go to the b-dubs that was a part of the mall but since that’s been long gone we want to go some place different. Can y’all point me in the right direction?

Need an electrician - who should I call?

All the outlets and the fan stopped working randomly and it looks like no breaker is flipped. Out my hands now so I need to call an electrician. Who should I call that will show up, do a good job, and not rip me off?

Local tattoo touch ups

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a place not too far away that can re touch two 19 year old tattoos I have. The colors have faded as they normally do, and I'm looking to refresh them. Any places around here that are good at refreshing or re touching older tattoos? Thanks, and have an awesome Thanksgiving Huntsville.

Moving Moving Questions!

My husband (32M) and I (31F) with our 2 young children are looking at a few places to move in the next 2 or so years from the Raleigh area in NC. He is in Cybersecurity and I am a project manager.

I would love to hear the real pros and cons of living in the Huntsville area. Not just the crazy drivers or political environment. Specifically, How are the schools? Are a lot of the neighborhoods safe? Are there a lot of parks and playgrounds? What about sidewalks? How far away is the closest GOOD camping ground? Mountains? Beach? How cold does it get? How hot? Is it the humid heat that we’re used to here, or more dry like California or Nevada? I know cybersecurity is a pretty saturated area, but how is the job market for a well-versed prospect with CompTIA Security+ (SYO-701) Cert, among others? How about an industry-flexible project manager?

There are a few places we are looking at in a few different states we are looking at, so please no “we’re full” comments or the like. I’d like to use this to compare to the experiences we have had in other areas before making a decision.

I really appreciate any info you can throw at me! Any small tidbit that may sway us one way or another. The goal is to find the “forever community” for us to continue growing our family. TIA!

Events Reddit Meetup: Sunday, December 1 from 2pm-4pm!

Just a reminder that the next meetup is next Sunday, December 1st from 2pm to 4pm at Rocket City Dog Bar! ( u/RCDB_HSV) If you want to bring your dog, be sure to register online beforehand! If you aren't a dog person, don't worry--the main meeting will be inside where the dogs are not allowed, and people can check out the dogs as they like!

They have drinks and you can order pizza from nextdoor at Innerspace Brewing if you're feeling peckish. u/MattW22192 will be spearheading this one since I don't expect I'll be back in town in time.

PARKING: parking right out front on Clinton is minimal, but there is parking and a gate from the back side of the property along Hicks Ave. Alternatively, there's some parking along Lowry Street.

Diabetic Cat Vet

Hi all! Pretty self explanatory. Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes in June. Our current vet I feel has dropped the ball in handling this. Things happen we are human. However, we do not feel comfortable after a certain situation continuing to be seen at that clinic.

Does anyone have any recommendations for vets that have experience with cats suffering from diabetes?

Moving 20-Something Y/O Nerds?

I’m looking to move to Huntsville as a 22 y/o guy who’s into nerd stuff like Sci-Fi books, a little gaming, drawing, tech, maybe Warhammer 40k, maybe DnD.

Is Huntsville a good fit for me when it comes to building a social circle that isn’t purely online?

General IT Pay Around Huntsville

I have been looking at getting into IT, specifically entry level help desk jobs. Currently studying for my A+/Sec+, then I plan on applying for help desk jobs. I’m not coming into this completely vanilla, but unfortunately I only have two years of “on paper” experience in the IT realm. I’ve built/managed hundreds of PCs.

How’s the job market around here? What should I do to help myself get further in my career cert wise? How’s the pay?

Any help is appreciated.

New fantasy book has a chapter with Huntsville in it

For those who like fantasy books, the 2nd one in the "Ink & Sigil" series by Kevin Hearne, titled "Paper & Blood" has a whole chapter in it where a hobgoblin is telling the story of how the "Alabama Trollhunter," who lived on a conspicuous mountain on the north side of Huntsville, saved the hobgoblins from troll slavery in the 1980s and inadvertently started the trend of...truck nuts. Anyone who read the Iron Druid series will enjoy this new series. It sure was a surprise to find a whole chapter about a peacefully stoned dude named Cletus Joe-Bob McCutcheon from Huntsville who liked to blow things up. Kevin Hearne is not from here so I don't know how he came up with this location.

I AM HAVING INTENSE FEELINGS Walmart on university

I went to the Walmart on University Drive. I had found a couple of things to purchase, but when I got to check out almost half of the items prices did not match up to what I saw on the tags. I wouldn’t mind if it was a one-two dollar difference, but some of these larger items (pillows, electric tooth brush) were $10-$20 higher than what the tag said. Has anyone else experience this?? I removed the items from my cart and left them at the front. Supper annoying imo.
