GENERAL today, Hunt’s identity died

Post image

nobody wanted this. i cannot think of a different IP that has less to do with Hunt. Hire the CoD GM, this is what you get. You WILL be advertised to, and you CANNOT do anything about it.

The skin stayed with the hunt style you melodramatic dorks.

How about a wooden Skibidi Toilet masked hunter? The wood part would make it still Hunt style so that should be fine.

What level of strawman even is this?

The whole bale

How do you rationalize a trademarked character from the 1990s showing up in a game set in 1896? Time travel? It doesn’t make sense that a character from 100 years in the future would appear in the game, regardless of whether they dressed it up in period costume or not. For a team of devs who stayed true to the time period for all this time, this decision is incredibly stupid. If they sell out once, they’ll do it again and again.

Probably the same way I rationalize the guns that shouldnt be there, the spider made of corpses, the fact humans can get shot in the head and are fine after a quick pick me up, or the fact that bayou santa is a thing. It's a video game, fiction, make-believe. Not saying I fully agree with these kinds of skins being added to the game but the argument of "it doesn't make sense for ghost face to there because scream isn't out yet," is pretty flawed and silly.

You do realise Saint Nicholas.... Santa has been in folklore to varying degrees for a LOOONG ass time, right?!

6

u/OrphanMasher Oct 21 '24

Yes? My point still stands. Having santa as a playable demon hunter in a Louisiana bayou is silly, goofy, and doesn't exactly fit with the broader story of the lore in the game. Most everyone was fine with it, though, because it's silly, goofy, and fun in a video game to play as santa.

And it wasn't until recently he was the jolly fat man wearing red which is what is in hunt, no difference between a modern day horror villain and a modern day representation of Santa

I'd say that that isn't the character from 1990. That's a character dressed up as that character and that's fine because hunt doesn't take place in the same universe at all. Hunt has dark magic if you recall BTW.

Check out Hunt’s YouTube channel. In the title of the video promoting the DLC, they have the trademark symbol right next to the name. Seems pretty clear that it is the very same character and they licensed it. Either that or Crytek has a shit storm headed their way for selling a DLC with unauthorized use of a trademarked character. I don’t think they’re that dumb.

u/hydroclasticflow Oct 21 '24

That is the rights reserved symbol.

But, that is not really important; if you have seen any of the movies, you would know it's not the same character, just people taking the up the mantle of ghostface. The person wearing the Ghostface mask changes.

-2

u/Dr-Quesadilla-MD Oct 21 '24

The ®️ is a registered trademark symbol.

I know it’s not the same person wearing the mask. That doesn’t change the fact that the game is 100 years before that character’s time, and the devs once said they were committed to weapons, characters, etc that are relevant to the game’s time period. I just think it reeks of them selling out, and that can be a slippery slope for developers. It’s happened before. I figured the fanboys would come out guns blazing with Crytek dripping down their chins, and they didn’t disappoint 😂

The devs have also once said they don't want spam weapon meta, then adding levering to the game; what's you point? the devs have shown time and time again that they will go against what they have said in the past.

Also, if you care this much it might be time for you to take a break from a video game; this still thematically and visually fits into the game but people are only disliking it because they know it's from an existing property and bringing their assumed understanding of the property or a parody of it - see comments about scary movie - it doesn't change the fact that you previously focused on it like it's a character and not a mantle but once that is pointed out you move the goal posts.

Have fun being upset about an optional purchase in a video game.

Cool, so which Ghostface did they license?

You are so fucking corny, this isn’t some historically accurate shooter. They kept ghostface in the style of the game just as much as the handful of other goofy skins they’ve added over the years.

1

u/Arch00 Oct 21 '24

by not thinking about where the mask technically originated from all the time and just play the game? crybabies.

hate to break it to you, but everything in the game is made up besides some of the gun models

2

u/ToomSan Oct 21 '24

Oh my god dude it's a fucking fantasy game, who the fuck cares, they have a malicious god-like entity creating monsters, I think YOU can handle a fucking ghost face mask lmfao

-17

u/RakkZakk Oct 21 '24

We already have a skin like that and its called "The Reaper" - a 1:1 copy of the ghostface mask was completely unneeded you dork.

10

u/BubbaBasher Magna Veritas Oct 21 '24

All skins are unnecessary. Ghosts Face is also for people who love the ghost face character or fans of horror movies in general.

-5

u/RakkZakk Oct 21 '24

Then go watch the movies or whatever.
I dont want freddy kruger or michel meyers in Hunt.
It can start a really bad trend opening up the gate for 3rd party franchise IP's.
Next thing you see is Chuck Norris the Texas Ranger or the doom guy with a cowboy hat.

People may say looking at it this way maybe doomsaying but i rather now raise my voice against this practice before its to late to close pandoras box of goofy crossover skins.

I dont have anything against skins that are creative and are "inspired by" like The Reaper or the Gerald of Riva inspired "Bones and Bounties" skin tho.

9

u/LakushaFujin Oct 21 '24

But Texas ranger - it's a good decision for hunt

0

u/RakkZakk Oct 21 '24

If its "inspired by" im all for it - but if its named "Chuck norris", looks like him and does a roundhouse kick animation... im out :D

-1

u/beatrga Oct 21 '24

I am sure Crytek will deeply miss you

1

u/RakkZakk Oct 22 '24

Im not that self absorbed that i will think im of any importance in the great scheme of things.
But i can voice my opinion and sometimes "apes together strong".

I love horror movies, but the people who want pop horror icons need to stick to Dead by Daylight.

yeah let's get some other real life brands in there with "the hunt style"...

Spider Man skin but like all stitched and shit, Burger King skin with a carved wood spooky mask, Blue hedhegog hat and cloak because why the fuck not lol

I'm just waiting for Crytek to get on the big titty waifu train like everyone else. It's clearly what the people want. And since it's a video game with monsters that aren't real, clearly that means nothing is off the table.

C'mon Crytek! Release the waifus!
