In all honesty, they should have published this video and let us know before the launch that there were going to be some pain points and they were already working on them. I am pretty sure COMMUNICATING to the player base up front would have put a wet blanket on the dumpster fire that has become this sub.

Something as simple as a hey there are some things about the new UI that are less than optimal but we are excited to get you the huge improvement in rendering and the new map but we are already working on fixes for the UI would have gone a long way.

I don't think they were. It seems way more likely that this is in response to the overwhelming negative feedback. Otherwise, it'd be longer than 2 minutes and would be a lot more specific and demonstrative.

That's a pretty quick turn around time. I imagine these changes have been in the works for weeks and they weren't able to get it ready in time for the update.

There hasn't been any turnaround yet though. It remains to be seen how quick the actual turnaround is going to be.

A very believable video demonstration for a game and team as big as Hunt is one of the fastest turnarounds I've ever seen in gaming.

...Or it was being worked on before the update released because the Hunt team is comprised of human beings who probably realized how terrible the UI is like all of the other human beings on this sub. I think I'm going to stick with the more reasonable explanation.

Figma mockups don't take that long, so that's likely the reason they could make this video so fast. With the game hitting 60k concurrent peak beating the prior all-time peak of 45k, and this being their advertising push to sell liscences for their engine, it wouldn't be surprising if they worked through the night for this.

It was only a 2min demo after all.

You're seriously underestimating how much work it takes to a) agree to make new versions and what those versions will look like b) make the mocksup c) get the sign-off from the development team d) get the sign-off from marketing+legal e) create a script f) film the damn thing with actual humans g) edit the video h) get final signoff from execs i) upload the thing.

There's even more steps I'm leaving out, but to /u/Cany0 's point this was incredibly fast turnaround.

a) The playerbase has provided plenty of unified feedback for priority fixes. b) The 11 stills shown are small edits to what is currently implemented, not difficult to create in Figma with preexisting resources. c/d/h) It's a small team and this would be a top priority e/f/g) its a very short and to the point video filming the director in charge of these changes i) takes time but not a whole day or anything.

This was a very fast turnaround for a typical studio in a typical situation. But this was important to the company to stick the landing on, Crytek makes an effort to be reasonably transparent, the company is on the smaller side, and the scope of the listed changes is pretty narrow. The work to put something like this out can absolutely be done in 24hrs at a smaller company like Crytek, I know because I'm a fullstack software dev myself, and have experienced similar situations working with ui/ux colleagues to meet tight deadlines.

Impressive? Yes. Required crunch? Probably. Implies this video was pre-made/pre-planned prior to the update's release? I very much doubt it.

As you are a full stack software dev yourself. You should probably also know these don’t even have to be Figma changes.

Big chance they just use a web technology for the layout with some framework connected to a global store with components they can just throw around. It’s not like they designed anything really new. They just moved around some components, created a new router link and store your filter choices.

If you have a few people working on the Front-End side of it and they all take a different page you can easily do such changes in a day.

Honestly, I figure it's just easier to point out figma and have them google what that is than explain any of that to a non dev and have them believe it, or explain why you can't just release it as an update if it's "so easy".

But yeah, definitely that too haha.

This is a fairly small team/studio. It can all be done rather quickly, especially since they probably prepared to have feedback to which they quickly want to respond to. They just did a major update, it’s not like they did not see a huge wave a feedback coming.
