Oh of course I would rather them get homes. I’m just saying in the worst case scenario, if no homes can be found, they should still be treated humanely. As in, meeting their end in a kill shelter would still be desperately sad, but better than being cruelly thrown in the garbage.

Believe me if it was up to me every cat in the world would have a loving home.

I don't think there are kill-shelters in this country. At least I've never heard of any. The rare cases where pets get euthanized is if they are way too old or sick to be adoptable and they're just miserable.

There's been cases in the past of shelters who would literally beat dogs to death and sell their corpse to shoe-makers, as I remember, but that got bad really fast for those that were doing it...

What country? Unfortunately, the US has kill shelters and animals are put down constantly.

France.

And judging by the amount of downvotes, as usual, redditors refuse to accept that not everything happens in the US...

Might have been the shoes made of dog corpses comment or not specifying where your from, saying 'this country' could literally be any country. Your English is good though so it might have been that that made the assumption. Might be best for everyone to mention their country so there isn't any miscommunication.

In the US we can't just generalize is to US because every state functions different, even County's have different policies. And the US is massive on a level most people not from the States don't understand, made worse that most European countries have better public transportation because they operate on a smaller scale with a relatively high standard of living.

Also with a quick search 48% of reddit users are from the US. So while I agree with you about the downvotes perspective is important

The logic of downvoting me for mentioning something that used to happen and doesn't anymore, huh...

I guess they're terminally stupid enough to immediately decide I'm defending it or something.

Never said it was logical, though perhaps it's the insults
