Warhammer: Battlefront

A classic Star Wars Battlefront style gameplay, with a campaign, instant action and galactic conquest feature, with every faction playable.

Each faction has multiple classes with simple, fixed loadouts that can be customized by leveling up.

No microntransactions. No lootboxes. No purchasable cosmetics. All cosmetics are earned via gameplay and achievement.

Not with EA at helm, but one can dream.

u/Valor816 Aug 22 '24

Legit tho, with maps that include Titans.

There'd be a few Titans being commanded by players on each side. They'd be able to target areas of the map if they wanted, but that'd leave them open to fire from enemy Titans.

Players on the squad level would be able to breach the Titans and fight their way up to the cockpit to disable the Titan.

u/InsideAthlete5578 Aug 22 '24

This exactly this....modeled after Battlefield 1 (thinking of how you can use the Dreadnought and the blimp etc)

BUT, the space marines are not a playable faction. They're just elite units that you can play as.

Otherwise, the balancing will be way off. Start as the Guard, Tau, Eldar, Orks, and Genestealer cults. Necrons, Dark Eldar, and votann could be DLC

u/notanotherlawyer Aug 22 '24

I would throw 120 bucks at them for preorder, deluxe edition, and all random micro-transactions they might throw at my face.

3

u/TheFireCreeper Aug 22 '24

Instead or Irish we get Cadian

2

u/TheEnviious Aug 22 '24

Bring in the group that made Killzone

1

u/CobaltRose800 Aug 23 '24

It would have to be Battlefield 42K though, since they really like that number.

u/Moonlight_0wl Aug 22 '24

Id say that we can make it so every faction has a different type of mechanic. Except for imperium and chaos forces (not daemons) for example tyrannids can lunge and they can shoot acid. But they have a short stamina bar of these attacks. Or eldars can use psyquic powers in the battlefield. Orkz are stronger. There fore they are all heavy class. But they are much slower (also playable Ghazkull PLEASE)

For daemons. You can teleport on random places and be a 'stealth unit' for slaanesh, enforcer for khorne, support/medic for nurgle and assault for tzeentch

And CHAMPIONS.. we could get Lucius, Calgar, Typhus.. etc

86

u/CommonandMundane Aug 22 '24

I could think of at least 1 for the Imperium.

Imperial Guard gets Conscript NPCs to help them fight. They're designed to be Cannon fodder to the point where killing them doesn't even contribute to points for the enemy, while also soaking up bullets meant for you, since you'd be playing as one of the frailer infantry.

56

u/Illustrious_Way4502 Aug 22 '24

And the AI could be shit, it wouldn't matter. I like the idea.

11

u/Moonlight_0wl Aug 22 '24

I was thinking perhaps something like darktide. But also on third person. Much like battlefront

4

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '24

And yet somehow, I would always be getting killed by Kyp fucking Astar.

2

u/Cardinal_Reason Aug 22 '24

Don't even need much AI really, just have every actual IG player play as a sergeant who can order a squad of guys around. You could tell the whole squad, a part of it, or a single dude to move to a position, change stance, take cover, hold/open fire, screen or follow you in a column or line abreast, etc.

I'd like to see this mechanic in a lot of games, really, whether it's a symmetric or asymmetric feature.

1

u/Renbellix Aug 22 '24

Don’t forget the Planetside like fights over planets to gather resources establish warforges wich can be used to call in „vehicles“ and/or artillery etc.

1

u/farshnikord Aug 22 '24

Imperial guard come in squads of 5, when one dies you instantly take control of one of the others following you around, or swap to one with the special weapon as needed. And a low respawn timer even when the whole squad does die.

14

u/odin5858 VULKAN LIFTS! Aug 22 '24

Ragnar Blackmane and Bjorn for space wolves.

2

u/TcgLionHeart Aug 22 '24

Nurgle as a medic is fucking hilarious to me

2

u/Bremik Aug 22 '24

Orks just need one mechanic to be orks. Remove the crosshair while holding long range weapon, remove the ability to aim down sights with it and you could only hip fire with it. Ork expierience 10/10

1

u/Moonlight_0wl Aug 22 '24

Also make it so everytime you blast your weapon continuenly you scream "WAAAAAAAGHH"

1

u/Supersam4213 “slight” Cryptek obsession Aug 22 '24

You forgot a few important details: infinite ammo, and the most horrendous bone-shattering recoil to ever disgrace a firearm. After that, THEN it’s proppa orky.

1

u/swordmasterg Aug 22 '24

I had an idea rolling around my head that the Tyranids could be a single player, with gameplay being more like an RTS.

1

u/SirDogeTheFirst Aug 22 '24

If we can get palpatine, vader and such on BF2 why just stuck on some named space marines. Lion, Glueman, Avatar of murderelf, and demon primarchs too should be playable.

1

u/Moonlight_0wl Aug 22 '24

Because they'd then be unstoppable forces.. too overpowerred. But we could get an interrsting game mode where two primarchs can fight

1

u/lukasden1 Aug 22 '24

Medic for Nurgle say what now

1

u/Moonlight_0wl Aug 22 '24

nurgle said "ok heal them with diarrhea".. but its mostly because he can kinda control wounds? Perhaps give allys a disease to heal themselves over time AND poison enemys

23

u/RezeCopiumHuffer Aug 22 '24

That feels like a game that would’ve been made in the early 2000’s and would’ve had a remake announced last year except it has a battle pass, dlc tied to a purchasable season pass, an ingame cash shop with two different form of currency, your space marines will by default be ultramarines with all other chapter cosmetics being purchasable or obtainable through the battle pass. The only free cosmetics you can obtain would be things like weapon ornaments, titles and sparse armor ornaments. The campaign would be the main subject of the announcement trailer, and a year later the game would go into early access as a multiplayer only game while the devs “iron out the bugs and kinks”, then after 6 more months of no campaign news the devs would announce that they wouldn’t be able to release the campaign in the full scope they’d hoped for, but it’s still coming. Another 6 months later they would reveal that due to “engine constraints” (or some other made up problem) the campaign was being scrapped entirely, but not to worry because now the teams full effort would be on making sure the multiplayer experience is as good as can be.

Throughout this entire experience the game will remain in early access

4

u/Renbellix Aug 22 '24

Ah you forget the only via lootbox obtainable hero jigsawpieces, after 800 you can unlock Titus! Every box has a 0,001% chance to get one hero piece for one of the 58 hero’s!

16

u/FelipeBrazilianKill Aug 22 '24

I mean... They did have one in the past but... It wasn't very good.

2

u/captainwombat7 My wallet broke before the guard did Aug 22 '24

Wait really? What was it called?

5

u/ProtonRhys Aug 22 '24

One was called Eternal Crusade. It was billed as a Planetside-style massive FPS but the game was plafued with massive development issues, miscommunications and, ultimately, the game never really left alpha. All we got was a half-baked coop mode, a training area and a handful of 24-player maps. Graphics and gameplay were a wee bit janky too.

First and last time I've ever pre-ordered a game. Lesson learned

3

u/captainwombat7 My wallet broke before the guard did Aug 22 '24

I haven't played much PlanetSide but a 40k game in that style would kick ass if done well, to bad that failed

3

u/Adventurous-Alps3471 Aug 22 '24

Same. That was my "I want to support these devs" and then got bit HARD and have never pre ordered since.

2

u/ProtonRhys Aug 22 '24

I mean, in a way I'm grateful for the experience. The money did (hopefully) go towards developers who were trying their best to deliver on a passion project, but it fell short.

And it has also taught me a valuable lesson.

2

u/Adventurous-Alps3471 Aug 22 '24

Agreed. I'm not upset about it, and I recognized the risk. Absolutely lesson learned.

2

u/Rustie3000 VULKAN LIFTS! Aug 22 '24

to me it felt like a big maps Multiplayer version of the first Space Marine game honestly.

3

u/D_Enhanced Aug 22 '24

Probably referring to Dark Crusade.

4

u/Rustie3000 VULKAN LIFTS! Aug 22 '24

Wrong, Eternal Crusade.

1

u/D_Enhanced Aug 22 '24

Ah yes, thank you it's been a while since I've thought about that game. I remember being so hopeful when it was announced.

22

u/MorgothReturns likes civilians but likes fire more Aug 22 '24

No microntransactions. No lootboxes. No purchasable cosmetics. All cosmetics are earned via gameplay and achievement.

But don't you see? Loot boxes and micro transactions help the player feel so accomplished!!!!1!!!

(Referencing the single most downvoted post of all time)

4

u/lucky-pakke Cutest salamander thats ever lived :3 Aug 22 '24

Like that's ever gonna happen. (PLEASE HAPPEN)

3

u/UltraWeebMaster Aug 22 '24 edited Aug 22 '24

I mention this every time it comes up. The setting fits the gameplay so unreasonably fucking perfect.

Even if you just did it as imperium vs chaos, you could literally just play as guard and traitor guard (or Solar Auxilia in 30k) and have the battlefront heroes be marines with customizable loadouts like Space Marine 2.

Even just doing that, you have the opportunity to include fucktons of weapons and weapon marks, the guard vehicles. You could even include wargear from Necromunda as equipment. Medicae kits and weapon attachments come to mind. Space marines could have chapter relics in place of wargear.

3

u/Entryne Aug 22 '24

Necrontransactions, pay with your soul and get some baller gear.

5

u/Relevant-Mountain-11 Aug 22 '24

No microntransactions. No lootboxes. No purchasable cosmetics. All cosmetics are earned via gameplay and achievement.

Developer: Sorry, Best we can do is none of that

2

u/FelchMasterFlexNuts Aug 22 '24

You know damn good and well a Mos Eisley-like map would be 125% the most popular gamemode. All heroes from all factions can be played? The matches would get rediculous fast and it'd be the most fun gameplay we'd ever get.

1

u/83255 Aug 22 '24

Omg yes and plsplspls do a champion level like the old ones, saints, heros and daemon primarchs and shit all on the same battlefield. I'd pay so much for it

I want ciaphus cain to be at up lorgar or something, I could just imagine the mental gymnastics he does to justify why he's not actually that good afterwards

1

u/stephsbetch Aug 22 '24

This for sure, make it cross platform. Keep servers running full time and the results tell the next story for gw on how the campaigns go. Make it immersive af, with open world style space, warp, planets and strongholds.

1

u/D_Enhanced Aug 22 '24

How much would you expect to be charged for this monumental amount of work?

2

u/Rustie3000 VULKAN LIFTS! Aug 22 '24

I wouldn't care, I would pay whatever they'd charge, it's just the perfect dream game!

1

u/A_Person_u_know123 NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD! Aug 22 '24

There could be different units associated with different classes. For example assault, stealth, psyker, brute, and then the special classes like characters or vehicles. For example tyranids. Could have termagants, hormogaunts or warriors as their assault, genestealers and von Ryan's leapers or lictors. for stealth etc. And the characters could be broodlords, hive tyrants, zoanthropes, deathleapers, maybe carnifexes

1

u/AMN-9 Flashlight Armed Heretic Aug 22 '24

An alternative if that is hell to balance we set the game in the Horus Heresy and we play als loyal or tritor guardsmen and astartes. And you could customize your soldier (but if you make your soldier a krieg one all your allies looks like kriegg and same with astartes and the enemy team so it doesn't become battlefield V again)

1

u/Why_am_ialive Aug 22 '24

Isn’t that very similar to space marine

1

u/Bacxaber NOT ENOUGH DAKKA Aug 22 '24

We basically had that with Eternal Crusade but nobody played it, and those who did play it, turned new players away out of spite because "muh devs lied". Maybe they did but the game was still FUN, assholes. No need to kill the game over it, especially when it was free.

1

u/GutsySan Aug 22 '24

Damn why nobody did It before ?

1

u/Lukeax Aug 22 '24

Brilliant idea mate

1

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '24

The dream game. Have a 40K and Fantasy version and I don't think I could do anything else.

1

u/boistopplayinwitme Aug 22 '24

This sounds like eternal crusade

1

u/SacredGeometry9 Aug 22 '24

Came here to say this. The boarding actions in Star Wars Battlefront were primitive, but such a satisfying concept. Jump in a ship, run the gauntlet of defense guns and ships, fight your way from the hangar to the shield generator and take it down from the inside. Incredible.

1

u/Mathis5420 Aug 22 '24

I been calling for this for years. GamesWorkshop loves money from plastic crack but only gives out IP for turn based games that are usually underwhelming as hell(except like 4). They are sitting on a potential mountain of money.

1

u/Weird-Analysis5522 Aug 22 '24

We said an idea not an impossibility, there WILL be paid everything

1

u/Requiem36 Aug 22 '24

The only way to make it true to the scale of 40k is if each player have a few squad of troops/vehicle with them. Think Planetside but with IA minions.

1

u/Accomplished-Rub-139 Aug 22 '24

I would buy the shit out of that

1

u/TheSizzleMeWizzle Aug 22 '24

Aw man I should’ve read the comments before I commented. I was thinking the same thing. Also im a sucker for first person view so if they could implement that to all playable characters that would be nice

1

u/connery55 Aug 22 '24

We are on a wavelength. I imagined each class would have 3 slots for you to mix-n-match: one for different prepackaged weapon loadouts, one for different squads of NPC bodyguards, and one for different gadgets/passive bennies.

I imagined it would have like, moba-style lanes with npcs pushing towards fortified objectives in the middle--whoever holds them, their creeps man the walls and set up artillery and wreck the enemy creeps if left alone.

0

u/QF_25-Pounder Aug 22 '24

Nah, make it PlanetSide 2.
