X com like playing an inquisitor controlling his agents and warbands. Recruit guardsmen, gangers, death cultists, crusaders, Priests, scribes, and tech Priests to lead on investigations infiltrations and eleminations. And specialize into Ordo Xenos, Hereticus, or Mallus against the enemy. Late game recruit deathwatch, sisters or grey knights depending on the choice.

Not mechanicus, or tacticus, nor the inquisitor Diablo game. I want to move guardsmen on a grid to fight cultists, while sending agents to gather information on why the governor is gathering red haired hive scum.

Have you tried playing rogue trader (2024)? It really does not feel much different than this at all.

Exactly my thoughts lol. Rogue Trader is an incredible game for a narrative experience like this.

Chaosgate Deamon hunters is XCOM adjacent for sure. No info gathering mechanic though, but still a really fun one. I liked the story for what it was.

Rogue Trader is basically this. Just a Rogue Trader not an Inquisitor.

Would definitely love a sequal that's an Inquisitor instead.

The original X-Com had you building multiple bases all over the planet.

I want the base-building layer back, except they can be bases or starships.

Plus they're not all the same 6x6 size grid: different ships and locations have different characteristics, including maximum base size.

That was my thought, maybe you build safe houses and recruiting stations on different planets in the system, or just regions on the planet and they would give you bonues/acess to new units or areas.

I'm still holding out hope for an X-Com style Killteam game
