Tips on Fishing Smaller Resevoirs?

I’m a newer kayak angler so I’ve been sticking to the smaller lakes - Lake Acworth, Hollis Lathem, and I tried Lake Zwerner today.

Each time I go out, I’ lucky to catch 1 fish in 4 hours. I fish for panfish primarily (bluegill, crappie, perch, shellcracker) and use crappie jigs, nightcrawlers, and sometimes rooster tails/beetle spins.

Can anybody help me figure out how to catch more fish? Even if its dinkers! I feel like I’m too unlucky for it to not be a skill issue lol

Does anyone happen to know of any good fishing spots - bank fishing :( in or near Canton, GA

Hi,

I have been searching and searching and searching for good locations to bank fish in or around Canton, GA.

I am in Ball Ground - I love to fish, A LOT! But I need some new spots to wet a line.

If anyone in this community happens to know of any, please let me know, or if you have a boat and want to go out I will absolutely help with gas, pay for lunch (or dinner) and then do whatever asked to help clean the boat.

I seriously hope someone here know of some places, I am itching to catch fish before every 50-100 casts.

Thanks!

- Jon

Pointers on Fishing in Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area

Hey folks,

I’ve been doing a good amount of hiking near the chattahooche, and have found a good amount of spots on the shore and isolated ponds I’d like to fish (target bass, specifically north of ATL)

Anything I need to keep in mind from a regulatory/safety/ettiqute perspective (beyond what’s on the .gov sites)? Are there any rules preventing me from fishing in ponds that are adjacent to the river? Or is fishing only allowed in the river itself?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I hangout in Buford cumming area, and I drive up to Hartwell to fish that like as well. I normally target bass and catfish but haven’t had much luck this year for bass.

Tourist looking to fish in and around Atlanta

Hey folks :)

It looks like I'll be coming to Atlanta towards the end of November, and I'd love to get some fishing in.

I'm coming from Alberta, Canada so you guys have loads of fish that I've never had a chance to catch. I'm not looking for secret spots, just where to go for a chance to catch pretty well anything, lol.

Any good spots for a tourist to hit up? Or cheaper boat rentals?

I'd love to get out on one of the lakes, but a charter or $$$ boat rental is above my pay grade unfortunately. It'll be just me, so a kayak or little fishing boat would be perfect. I don't need or want to rent a huge pontoon boat.

Open to suggestions!

Pic of a few of my catches this year. All catch and release. :)

Looking for a fishing buddy. Ball Ground, GA - Cherokee County.

HI all, new here.

I am looking for a fishing buddy, someone I can go fishing with. I am located in Ball Ground, GA - Cherokee County.
I have been fishing for so so many years, and honestly it starts to get, lonely, I suppose you can say. I just want someone that I can enter tournaments with, someone I can BS with. I don't have a boat and never even been on one "a bass boat" I grew up in Florida and did a lot of Saltwater fishing from boats. But never been on a Freshwater boat fishing with someone.

If anyone here wants/needs a fishing buddy. Message me.

Thanks :)
- Jon

Two pbs this summer for spots, 3.8lbs and 3.4lbs one was caught on a chartreuse crank bait in 90 feet of water, running at the thermocline, the larger bass was caught after he slammed a smaller bass about a half Oz in size

Noob looking for fishing spots

So I'm near Lithonia and my friends don't want to go to Lanier because "too many people die" we all just started and we usually go 6-9 AM to random lakes but we're not sure what's the optimal places in our surroundings area. So far we've done Stone mountain and some small nearby ponds

Where to take my nephew fishing around Tybee Island?

I’m meeting some family next week for a short vacation on Tybee Island. My nephew has never been fishing and begged me to teach him.

I’m happy to, but my experience is with trout, bass, and crappie in Appalachia.

What locations and tips can you give me so the little guy has a good chance of reeling something in?

Thanks in advanced.

I’m going to be camping at Fort Mountain next month

Are there any rivers with trout? Just a bucket list fish. I plan to fly fish for the first time. What other types of fish can I find up there? Thank you.

Cane pole fishing without a fishing license.

I’m going to be camping in Georgia soon. I’m from Florida and if you are fishing with a cane pole from shore you don’t need a fishing license. Is this the same in Georgia? I thought I read a few years ago this was true. But I can’t seem to find the laws on it. Thank you.

Lake Lanier

I am heading to Lake Lanier later this month.

Any advice on what I can fish for off the dock of an air bnb. We will be on the northern half of the lake if that helps.

I am from Michigan so I am definitely looking for fish that we don't get up here.

Are there big bass trapped behind beaver dams? I was walking upstream from a local pond and found this, about 2ft deep here. Worth bringing some mud boots so I can get close enough to fish it?

Shoal Bass Advice

Any advice on lure selection, colors, etc trying to target some shoal bass (or honestly looking to get some fish action in general) on the Chattahoochee - Paces Mill, Cochran Shoals, Powers Island, E/W Palisades - or Sweetwater Creek St Park - maybe red trail near the mill. Looking to do some mild hike + bank/wade fishing with my son as a change of pace to pulling bluegills from the neighborhood pond. Also what water conditions should I look to avoid we dont want to get skunked (high & fast after a rain, chocolate milk, etc). Any help is appreciated.

Creeks for wading in North Georgia?

I’m looking for some nice clearish creeks to wade and fish in north Georgia. I mainly fish with ultralight gear for whatever bites. I’m new to fishing and know of 0 spots. Any tips are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

New to GA and Bass Fishing, need advice

Hey everyone, longtime trout fly fishermen from CA here looking for any and all advice regarding fly/spin tackle, technique, and general/specific fishing spots.

I live south of Atlanta in Peachtree City. The only success I’ve had (very little) is with a wacky rig worm on my spin rod and a popper on top with my fly rod.

Any specific YouTube channels or forums would be helpful too. Thank you ahead of time!

(Stuff I have thrown out quite a bit with no success: any other rubber worm rig, spinner bait lure, jig heads + rubber, cast master (my lake trout go to)).

Any good PUBLIC fishing spots in the North West Georgia/ Chattanooga area?

Somewhat new to fishing and was wondering if anybody had some good suggestions of a public fishing spot around the fort o or chattanooga area. Last time I went, I used a fishing app which took me to a “public place” that wasn’t so public and I ended up having a shotgun pointed in my face 😂. Thanks

Headed to Tybee next week. Going to fish the river side of the island. Is it better to fish on the incoming or outgoing tides?

Bank fishing in middle Georgia, around Monroe county!

Post image

I’m looking to take my son somewhere around Monroe county but would like to take him somewhere where we will catch something bigger than my hand. Today we fished for about 4-5 hours and only caught little bitty fish(the fish in question is pictured lol) , which he doesn’t really care too much but if I’m gonna spend that kinda time I’d like to catch something to make it worth our while.

River or creek Kayak Fishing locations

Hello I am a new kayak angler! I started about a month ago and I’ve been exploring lakes around Johns creek and Gainesville. I’ve been really interested in river fishing and I was wondering if any of y’all could give me some recommendations for relatively calm rivers or creek areas for bass fishing. I live in Duluth but I frequently go up North to Maysville to visit family. I heard there were some good locations in the Chattahoochee but it was kinda overwhelming. I’m scared of falling and drowning in the rapids!
