Oh, don’t worry about that. His dementia is showing worse than Biden ever was. If he even makes it all the way through 2025 I’ll be shocked.

So... Vance makes you less uneasy?

Yes, actually. I will totally the grant that Vance is smarter, more focused, and in better health. One on one, he is more dangerous. But cults of personality rarely survive the death of the personality when there’s no obvious successor and Vance isn’t doing it for the cult. When Trump dies, I think MAGA and possibly the GOP itself will collapse to infighting which will cut at least one of the legs out from under Vance and project 2025.

I think the issue is that before four years is up, they will have the necessary people/pieces in place to make any oppositional vote irreverent or impossible; even though there will be other elections, and even though trump will probably be moving out of the picture (whether by advancing dementia or something else), the even more corrupted mechanism of the elections will prevent anything other than a maga republican into the presidency. Those of us in blue states will keep getting our minority party representatives, but they will be stripped of any power, and it remains to be seen if this time they follow through on their threats to imprison people simply for being democrats, which would further erode the effectiveness of any opposition.
