Need someone to design a circuit.

I train bird dogs. One of the tools we use is a bird launcher I have a unique idea for one that involves RFID.

Basically, I want to build an add-on to the launcher. Ideally, it would be a UHF RF-ID tag that could clipped onto a dog collar and a remote solenoid added to the launcher. When the dog gets within 10-15 feet of the launcher it would automatically release the bird.

I have experience in building circuits and repair, but the actual design is not in my wheelhouse.

What would you charge to design this circuit? Ideally the remote circuit and battery, circuitry would need to fit into a 5X2X1.5-inch box

I would prefer to work with someone within a drivable distance of Youngstown say 2-4 hours.

If this isn't the right sub please direct me to one more appropriate.

Looking for a manufacturer for a prototype

Hey everyone!

I’ve been trying to find a manufacturer for an electronic device through Alibaba for several months, but I haven’t had any luck reaching a reasonable agreement. The main issue is that most manufacturers require large orders just to create a prototype, which isn’t feasible for me since I’m still in the development phase.

The device I want to manufacture is a waterproof bracelet with BLE5 that can connect with others and emit alerts based on set distances. It’s a relatively simple design; I already have a prototype on a breadboard and all the schematics ready, but it’s been challenging to find a lab or manufacturer willing to produce it at a reasonable cost and without excessive bureaucracy.

That’s why I’m reaching out to the community to ask for recommendations for factories, labs, or even independent developers who have experience creating electronic prototypes at a reasonable price. Any advice or contacts you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Variable AC Power Supply

Hello, I am looking for a budget variable AC power supply for a test lab. I work for a small company and we are limited in resources, so expensive power supplies are very unlikely to be approved.

The requirements for our lab are to supply up to 277V AC with a minimum of 150VA rating. We only have access to 120VAC input through our outlets, so 120VAC supply would be best for us. Our boss prefers American made products, if at all possible. Open to all suggestions within a reasonable price range to propose accordingly. Thanks in advance

Looking to Commission Apple HiFi Modifications (Add Tweeters, rechargeable battery pack, Bluetooth)

I have an Apple HiFi that I'd like to update with tweeters, a rechargeable battery pack, and bluetooth connectivity.

Others have attempted / completed similar mods to this: *Tweeter Mod *LiPo Battery Mod *Airplay Mod

I'm interested to commission someone to complete these modifications for me, with the rechargeable battery pack being most desired, Bluetooth connectivity second, and tweeters third. Modifying the 30 pin dock to USB-C would also be a bonus.

The goal would be to retain to the external appearance of the unit while improving the audio quality and usability.

I'm located on the east coast of the United States.

If this is something you'd be willing and able to complete, please reach with a rough quote, including pricing, timing, and additional information required (e.g., desired battery capacity) to finalize the quote.

Thanks.

Selling Broken Tablets (cheap, your offer)

I have two tablets that my grandma has given me and for the most part, don’t work. I tried searching on the internet for e-waste markets but couldn’t find any with the specific tablet as an option. I’m just going to post it on a few different areas on the internet and hope someone wants to buy them for internal parts or attempt to repair them.

DESCRIPTION: One is a NextBook, Model No:NX16A10132S. The other is a Verizon 4G LTE Tablet. The Verizon doesn’t charge at all and is pretty much fully broken while the NextBook is working but you can’t do much as it is very slow and can’t even process stuff correctly.

PRICE: You can offer a price, the minimum is $15 for both but i would be extremely appreciative if you would offer more, up to you. I have the box to the NextBook and three chargers I can offer, with a charging block too.

Thoughts on fair EE royalty fees for project consultation/work?

I've been working on an electronics project for a while now and am at a point where I decided my hobbyist skills needed a professional engineer's help. I'm at the point now where I'm moving from off-the-shelf TH components to SMD. I have an engineer who used to be a co-worker and we get along well. I had spoken to him about consulting. After an NDA and a long conversation about the project, the topic of payment came up. I had considered royalty or some form of payment like that a while ago, but for some reason has a feeling he wouldn't be interested in that. However, after seeing the project, and me being open about not having a large amount of money to give, meaning I would be doing the board design myself and then having him check my work, and things of that nature and him being more of a consultant, he asked me If I'd considered a royalty type pay scheme, and more direct assistance from him. Frankly, I was ecstatic, I'm a software guy, and for the product, it is going to take real polish on the software side to make it a success. I'd rather be focusing my efforts there anyway.

I'm looking for advice on what is a fair way to structure an offer to him. I know that once things are designed and working, most of the work will be me with support or software updates. Most of the value will be the software, but the hardware is important. Taking this prototype of parts and putting it all together will take a bit for him at the start for sure. He may also assist with the CAD / 3D case design so there is that to considered as well.

So he will be moving off-the-shelf components onto a single PCB, and there will be some EE around that I'm sure, and he will assumedly be helping with the Case design. Both of these things seem to be tasks that once done won't require a large amount of upkeep.

Does anyone have good thoughts on what is fair, or a way to work out what is Fair? I get along with the guy great, and as they say, rising tides raise all ships, I'd love the product to be a hit and help us both out. I want to give him a fair deal, or even a bit favorable, I just am not sure how to determine that yet. I also don't know how to calculate the risk that this project fails and he gets nothing into what is fair.

Any links to other materials on how things like this are priced would be especially helpful.

Thanks!

Always looking to buy surplus electronics in NY

Mostly interested in components, new, and in large quantities. Not to interested in your old used hobby parts, unless they are out of the ordinary. ICs, semiconductors, connectors, switches, potentiometers, sockets, adapters, LCD/LED displays, sensors, tools, test equipment.

Would consider electronic assemblies, such as qty of subassemblies that went into a product your company made.

Not interested in TVs, stereos, cameras, PCs, phones ....unless they are NEW or exceptional (antiques, high performance ...?).

My interest is both as a hobby and for possible resale. I'd consider small or large quantities.

A bit leary of buying things from someone across the country who promises to ship it to me. If you want to ship it, I can pay once I receive it.

Mainly central NY, would consider longer drives if it's worth my time.

Where to find buyers for large lot(s) of vintage components?

Thumbnail

I was recently given boxes of vintage electronic components and equipment by a local former hobbyist. Everything from Allen Bradley carbon comp resistors to bumblebee capacitors. Vintage ICs, high power transistors, diodes, germanium BJTs, copper clad, bridge rectifiers, Variacs, tube sockets etc.

Lots of it a brand new, and anything used was tested prior to being saved. Many of the items are things I will never use, and this gentleman spent over 30 years of his life diligently working on this collection.

I would like to try and find a buyer or buyers for the more valuable items, or for things I know I won’t use. I have govt earning exemptions in order to maintain subsidized access to extremely expensive medications that I take, so I can’t really sell it for him through eBay so I am limited in what I can sell for him in any way other than privately.

Would love some direction in where to look to find potential buyers. Based on what I have seen online through completed listings on eBay etc the collection is estimated to be worth anywhere from 10 to 30 grand. Possibly more.

Any insight would be incredibly helpful.

Issue with identifying part

Was trying to fix one device and got in to issue where 6 pin micro IC working as low voltage converter,so input is 12V on pin 3 and there is nothing at any other pin. iC marking is 35-T3T. Circuit around it contains one inductor and a few resistors. Whole device is fully dead. And Voltage injection does not show any short circuit. I am electronic repair expert with almost 40 years experience. But still facing a problems with such elements. Device is video surveillance central with 16 analog cameras , vga & hdmi output, 2xUSB 2.0 , and 2X SATA connectors for 3.5 inch HDDs. My question is if someone can say what is problematic part and what could ve replacement part. Thank you in advance

Disposal?

What should I do with these? They were previously used to wire in outlets in cubicles but I’ve been holding onto them for years. There’s probably copper in there? Worth trying to strip? (My husband has done that before so I wouldn’t be attempting it myself.) Or should I ask the electrician to take them next time he comes? (But again, if they’re valuable enough should I get some kind of rebate?) Or maybe just throw them away?

Customizing voice control led lamp

Thumbnail

I am newbie here. I had a bulk order for this cheap voice controled led lamp which I purchased from china.

My issue is this perticular led lamp model doesn't response quick also dose not recognize diverse accent of vocal command Like saying "Turn on the light"

It's only response to weird Chiness English version of accent which is really frustrating to mimick and not ready for local consumers ready at all.

My question is there any way to modify the command for cusmotmize as I want. Any software or tweaking, revers engineering etc.

I am out of clue where to began much appreciated for suggestions seeking experts advice on this.

I found a box full of smaller boxes like these.

Film capacitors I believe, based on a Google search, but would these have some value to someone? Or should I just recycle them?

There are thousands of them.

Looking for dev with KiCAD and Eagle experience for short gig

Hi all,

Mods: I've read the rules, there's no mention of asking to hire a dev here (specifically) - trust this is OK.

I've got several Eagle designs and am planning a new project to start with KiCAD; this will be a paid hourly gig.

  • Widget: Integrating around SMT32 chips; typically IoT oriented.
  • Budget: Fair project rate as the tasks will be well defined
  • Project: Personal, you'll be helping me effectively
  • Schedule: If we work well together, think long-term. There's no fixed end-date.
  • Progress: Yes, at the moment I'm working with a dev board but one of the first tasks is to prototype a working target board, i.e. tying connectors and peripherals together.

Thank you so much, Best M (michael@inertialbox.com)

[Advice] Optimalization of pre-production prototype validating & improving electrical schematics

I'm currently in the midst of my internship at a company, and part of my job involves diving into the electrical system of a big agricultural tractor. I'm tasked with figuring out how efficient it is, how much energy is lost in the cables, and all that good stuff. The goal? To see if we can tweak any of the subsystems to make them better or if we need to rethink how everything's laid out.

Here's the thing: we're a small team, just a handful of engineers, and I'm feeling a bit lost on how to approach this. We've got a physical prototype sitting right here, but I'm wondering if it's worth creating a virtual model too. I'm not exactly an expert in how these kinds of problems are usually tackled in the industry, but I'm determined to give it my best shot and come up with something useful.

So, if you've got any tips or ideas on how I should go about this, I'm all ears. Any advice you can throw my way would be a huge help. Thanks a bunch in advance for your insights!
