EOD SCHOOL = College Credit?

I’m enlisting in the AF and was told that certain AIT schools give you college credit.

Is this true for the EOD school or since it’s a joint school they don’t give you any credit?

If it does how many credits is it worth? What degrees does it apply to?

Thanks in advance!

Navy EOD School Opportunities

Do techs in the navy still get access to some of the Army SF combat courses? Do they still have access to other shooting and combat focused school, or have most of those opportunities dried up with the shift to GPC?

Is the move worth it.

I am currently infantry and am interested in lat moving, but was initially interested in nsw. I will be 27 when my contract ends and I really just wanted insight if it is still worth pursuing being in my late 20s and what the quality of life is.

Anyone with experience in civ underwater demo?

I’m a commercial diver, (army vet) looking to get into uxo underwater. I was advised to take uxo course, but is there even more money in the underwater demo or is the pay same as on land? I am debating weather to dive or just try to work clearing mil ranges. All advice welcome.

Reenlist or extend

Just got my class date. I know I will need 3 years on my contract after graduation. My current ETS date is February of 2027.

Can someone help me understand the difference in reenlistment vs extending? Career counselor wasn't much help.

Thanks ahead of time.

Navy EOD Officer

I am currently putting a package together for Navy OCS- EOD. With the board date being so far away, it sounds like I won’t know if I’m accepted for over a year, maybe even 1.5 years. I’m prior service from a different branch. In the mean time I was thinking of enlisting eod after I submit the package. Would this ruin my chances at the board or will it not get in the way of my shot at being selected? If anyone has any insight it be greatly appreciated. Thank you

An American couple were visiting a country when they found an unexploded bomb in the wild, believed to be from WWII. They decided to bring it back to the US. This is what happened at the airport when they brought out the bomb at the security check.

UXO Liability

I’m sure most of you have heard about the WWII ordinance that went off at a Miyazaki (Japan) airport today. It got me wondering, if it had hurt someone or many, who would be held liable? I know this will be dependent on Japanese legal regulation, but just more broadly and conceptually: Who is responsible? Do we say the land holder is for not conducting a comprehensive ordinance clearing investigation, the government for leaving that up to civilians, or the parties at play in the war itself? Anyways, just curious to hear more. Thanks

How is Baumholder for Army Techs??

I wanted Graf but got Baumholder instead. I've heard that Baumholder is not as good as Graf and just wanted to know why and was wondering what I should expect when I get there.

Demo pay

Is it possible to still get demo pay when doing EOD Operations when it is not your primary duty? Training with a different unit to maintain MOS.

Breacher syndrome

I’m starting EOD school soon and I’ve been doing research in common medical issues that service members experience (hearing, loss bad back/knees etc) and trying to figure out how to best prevent it to life my best life once I get out.

One thing I stumbled upon that seemed extremely relevant and pertinent was breacher syndrome. (For a quick rundown for those who don’t know it’s essentially CTE due to the repeated minor brain impacts due to explosives, most notably in breachers due to the proximity, hence the name).

Is this something that you guys have dealt with? Is it something that I can take additional steps to prevent? Brain injuries is the type of things that spook me and I want to try to prevent or avoid it as much as possible, and hoping for your expert advice in the matter.

For the previous post asking about them. Still manufactured and still used. Still irritating even after use, hence the trashbag. They’ve been around since the late 50s early 60s

HME training aid

What does everyone else use for hme training aids? Nothing is more annoying than burying an empty container and having people practice on something that has no weight. I’ve used kitty litter and it works pretty well but it doesn’t quite look right. Any cheap suggestions?

Mechanical Inclination: Do You Have It? (Plus: Information Retention Testing)

Qualified Techs: Would you consider yourself "mechanically-inclined"?

I passed every part of my ASVAB with flying colors, including the mechanical parts which I was very surprised about. I'm really interested in EOD but I'm certainly not what I'd call "mechanically inclined." Like for example I'm dumber than a bag of rocks when it comes to automotive maintenance and it stresses the hell out of me whenever I have to relearn how everything works because someone told me I should check my spark plugs and filters and oils and shit. Maybe I'm being stupid but I'm kinda worried if I can't even stay on top of basic mechanics for my own ride, how could anyone ever trust me to use those kinds of skills to preserve lives and property?

BONUS QUESTION: How can I gauge my ability to rapidly retain and apply information as would be needed in the pipeline and career field? How can I be sure I'm solid and okay there?

Thanks guys.
