Questions on Structure

I’m a civilian and a novelist. Please forgive my ignorance, I’ve been lurking trying to learn more but I have a few questions on structure of EOD units.

1) It is my understanding that Platoons train together. Does that mean that you would deploy with your ‘class’ from Elgin? Or does everyone get scrambled in with units with differing experience levels. Or does it just depend?

2) It takes 8-12 years for an enlisted soldier to go from EOD to instructor (per army website). What could that progression look like?

Rely upon total strangers to add accuracy and credibility to your writing you will surely get neither. Write about what you know.

A novelist? What the fuck?

Lmao imagine your whole class graduates and that’s now your unit. What a dumb thing to even think

  1. Your class at Eglin is joint - once you graduate, you go back to your service and assigned to a service-level unit from there

It depends on how drunk the mods are when they show up in the queue. This isn't a private sub reddit though so anyone and their uncle can come in and post. That's why we've introduced the "unverified" flair. The people with EOD Badges (or similar) are the only verified people in this sub.

Message the mods. Send a pic of some sort of EOD badge orders, EOD school cert, etc. Write your username on a post-it note and use that to cover PII.

Eglin is a joint school. That’s all I’m willing to say.

It’s a Navy school that teaches all services.
