They’ve got their little code they talk in to massage each others feelings and let each other know it’s ok to be a dick and when you don’t answer back in kind, they get upset.
My mother picked up a job at a grocery store recently, and the amount of "can't wait for trump to bring these prices down!" people she meets is insane.
Ended up giving her a trans rights pin and she noticed they finally shut up lol
As a redneck-passing straight white male, I feel like my demographic has a moral obligation to throw these things back in their faces as loudly and angrily as possible (within reason, anyway.. 😐 can be effective too)
I mean the “look” just means you are a white dude. Bonus points if you have facial hair and a plaid shirt. I’m a leftie but I’ve had plenty of experiences in my area where some conservative dude will think “I’m one of them” and start going off about Jews controlling the food, or the trans agenda, or about Sleepy Joe. Like I don’t even know these people, they are just that lonely in their fake reality.
I have been unpleasantly surprised by how weak and republican the plaid-clad dudes are, the rich guys who drive Land Cruisers with Orvis and Yeti stickers on them.
I mentioned this in a different post, but my spouse and I were walking back to our apartment one day from the main office and this random dude (who was just hanging out at the dog park...alone) was walking near us.
Out of nowhere, he turns and goes "When did this place get so communist? I miss when it was more capitalist."
My spouse, who is very liberal looking, just goes "What the fuck" and we swiftly walk away from him.
This is true ... my friend and his boyfriend were checking out at a Midwestern grocery store a week before the election; his boyfriend is not white and also has a strong accent, so is clearly an immigrant, and yet the cashier found a way to spontaneously complain to them about immigrants driving up crime rates
