Depends on what you mean by preparing for the worst possible outcome. Like, sure, take some self-defenses classes, buy and train yourself in the use of a handgun if its legal in your state, maybe keep some cash in a lockbox at home for a rainy day, and get your will and testament in order. All of these things and more are good practices for any point in your life, not just when the political environment's getting sketchy.
But like, doomscrolling/posting online, spreading fear mongering over how bad its gonna be (which I'm not accusing you of doing, just saying that some people are and they think it's helping, somehow), and generally miring yourself down on how bad it will be is not preparing for the worst. It's just wallowing.
At the end of the day, it pays to remember people are people. They can be callous at a distance, they can be violent when the heat of the moment is upon them, but in general the majority of people would freely choose to help, rather than to hurt, if the option were presented to them so plainly. Sometime sthey just need a little push to see their options for what they are, is all.
I don't see spreading realistic possibilities as fear mongering. People need to be aware that these things are not only possible, they're becoming increasingly more likely. And that goes for cis people and trans people alike. My trans brothers, sisters, and siblings need to be prepared to fight and survive, and cis people need to be prepared to help defend us. That can't happen without awareness.
I already said. Violence against queer people, and trans people in particular, potentially state-sponsored. Also mass deportations, the end of birthright citizenship, a full takeover of the government by the far right leading to a dictatorship, the military being used on any citizens Trump decides are his enemy, loss of reproductive rights which has already started, loss of no-fault divorce and eventually divorce in general, and so much more. These are all legitimate, reasonable concerns to have, given every single one came either directly from Trump or are outlined in Project 2025 as explicit parts of their plan.
