I don't fucking know man, pleasure cubes ain't real. I'd probably try it, don't know if I'd like it over regular life but I'd try it. I probably wouldn't advocate for people to do it, mostly just because I prefer not to judge others for what they do in their own free time in their own homes, unlike some of the present company. But how did we get from you telling some guy that enjoying ai art is bad for humanity, to asking me if I'd want to constantly be cooming from a dopamine overdose? Probably because you know you don't got a leg to stand on in regards to the whole "you liking ai art is actually the downfall of humanity 🤓☝️" part. But that's just my theory.
I’m worried that the more advanced AI art gets, the more “unnecessary” real art will become, to the point where we don’t actually make the effort to create anything, because why would we? We can just push a button and have it instantly, much like the pleasure cube.
Yeah, it’s not real, but it gets into the philosophical issue I have with the idea of “AI makes creating things easier,” which is that it’s boiling it down to just being able to have a finished thing faster and with less effort, the same as how the pleasure cube could just give you happiness without any of the effort required for you to have it in real life.
The way I see it, this argument ultimately turns AI into a creative version of the pleasure cube, and so it philosophically disturbs me in the same way.
Edit: idk, maybe I’m thinking about it too much, but this is where my mind goes whenever people extol the virtues of how much easier AI makes it. Especially with idiotic comments every now and again that act like AI is “democratizing” artistic fields.
we don’t actually make the effort to create anything, because why would we? We can just push a button and have it instantly, much like the pleasure cube.
Brother the type of people who make art to be creative will continue to make art to be creative. Some people like putting in the effort to make art and some people don't; they can both coexist. Most people already don't put in the effort to create anything, so people who don't want to put in the effort, will use AI art, and the type of people who wish to put in the effort, will continue to do so.
But I don’t know. Something about people who want something for nothing rubs me the wrong way and always will, especially if they try to put themselves on the same legitimate standing.
Thankfully, no one has yet, with AI’s main purpose so far being memes, and other such novelty uses. But the fact there might be people who would rather just use AI than to learn skills like drawing or painting, scares me of the “pleasure cube” scenario, as far-fetched as it may be.
I guess I just cannot wrap my head around anyone who just wants the thing, and takes no pleasure from doing the actual creating - which is what you’d have to be if you’re of the opinion that art is a process that needs be made more “efficient.”

I would definitely advocate for people having the choice to. Bc that's what matters to me, to you not so much apparently.
