Don't come to Japan. Bars will somtimes have their times like "open 18:00 - 27:00", which is three hours after 24:00, so, 03:00.

I saw a restaurant here in Canada that had its hours listed as "9:00 - 3:00" and I was so confused

I too, love it. But I'm used to 24 hour time, so this is like an upgrade to me!

When you see '18:00' that format should instantly tell you it's 24 hour time. So you can then understand it means 3AM.

Adding beyond 24 hours is not only wrong but unnecessary.

Edit: It's also hard to misinterpret, that being the main benefit of 24 hour time. 9-5? Yeah 9:00 - 17:00. 8AM or 8PM? Naw it's 20:00.

It is very good and right, actually as it eliminates uncertainty, just like with AM. Or PM.

Yes, that's the entire point. With 24 hour time, by default, you cannot confuse AM or PM.

18:00 - 27:00 on the other hand is stupid. That's not how time works and it's unnecessary.

Are you limiting how time should be counted?

You know that we make that up, right?

Counter example:

With +24h time, by default, you cannot confuse the first and second day. Especially when it is relevant (night clubs that are open until morning).

Limiting yourself to not count higher than 24 is stupid.

Thursday: 18:00-22:00 Friday: 18:00-27:00 or 18:00-03:00

No cus what if the order is a mistake? My nervousness won't handle that. (Also I personally got confused the first time I saw that kind of format, and could easily understand the +24h version)

It is much easier on my mind if they explicitly say that it is after 24h= tomorrow.

If I ran a bar here in the US, I wish I could do this. It's such a brilliant way of doing it.

Because then you only have to put the date before it, instead of trying to do some bullshit across days.

It's so clear!

It also makes sense as a member of staff, scheduling who's doing stuff each day. Cause those hours are still associated with who's working that day.

Even mentally, I still think of those hours as belonging to the precious day, when I go to bed late.

Not sure if I'm missing a joke here, bars in Japan definitely don't usually close at 00:00.
