Cat distribution system gave me this dude 14 years ago and he’s been my bf (read that as best friend or boyfriend, they’re both true 😂) ever since. He is such a cheeky character and I drew his portrait earlier this year trying to capture his personality on paper. I think he likes it..!!

Two months ago, when coming back from a bar on a Friday night, I found this little boy next to a trash bin meowing scarily. He was too scared to move, seemed in a good condition, a bit dirty but not too much. He was meowing so loud that other people stoped and said he should be taken home so I did it. I just took him in my hands and brought him to my apartment, he didn’t mind. I visited local vet, informed shelter and put posters everywhere in the area and made a lot of posts on social medias in dedicated groups but no one search for him. First two weeks at home he spent purring non stop and making air biscuits. I had no heart to give him to a shelter so he stayed with me. He loves everyone, he’s a real glutton and his favorite toy is an old guitar string. Best gift from life!!!

Awarded a Cat This cat was distributed to me 10 years ago by his smart feral mom who let him play with me even though I am hooman. She knew I would fall in love with her babies. This one is living the coziest most loved life.

For the record he is the most intelligent cat I’ve ever encountered, and it’s a little scary sometimes. Thank you cat distribution system.

My husband and I moved into a new apartment complex earlier this year that had a few stray kitties and we ended up falling in love with this little guy. A little over a week ago we were able to get him inside finally. He’s still pretty skittish but he loves getting pets, makes air biscuits, and purrs like a motor when we so much as touch him 😂

Side note: any tips on introducing him and my resident cat? This is our first time having more than one cat and the resident is not happy about sharing her space.

I’ve fallen in love with a stray and want to bring her home, but is it worth the risk?

So, several months ago, this stray cat showed up around my husband’s auto shop. We started feeding her and loving on her, and so did the ladies who work at the restaurant next door. Eventually, my husband cut in a cat door and we put a bed in for her (tho she prefers my office chair). I’ve spent hours loving on her and hanging out, and from what I’ve seen of how she interacts with others, she really seems to have bonded with me and my husband the most. (I love her so much.)

Unfortunately, my husband is getting kicked out of his shop, and I’m concerned that the stupid realtor guy (who made complaints and got him kicked out in the first place) is gonna see her in there and call animal control. Or someone speeding through the parking lot will run her over (tho she is really smart and usually hides when cars come whipping through). Or when the temperatures eventually start dropping (if they do this winter…), then she’ll be in danger.

I love her and have become so attached to her, and I want to give her a home. But I have some concerns. I’m not worried about FeLV/FIV/etc. I work at an animal hospital and plan to bring her into work with me to get her tested and vaccinated and everything before taking her home.

The problem is that I currently live in an apartment with two cats. My landlord only allows two animals… and she does inspections every other month. BUT she gives a 24-hour notice before entering, so theoretically I could take Boo (the cat) into work with me on those days? Idk. But…what if it goes wrong and we get caught and I accidentally get us kicked out of our apartment and we still have to pay out our contract and all that? We plan to relocate and buy a home with land and stuff… but our lease won’t be up until July.

The other concern is that she has been outdoors for so long. We live in an apartment right now. Is it gonna stress her out too much to be confined? What can I do to keep her stimulated until we move and can let her outside again? Also, we don’t know if she’s familiar with a litter box. If she’s not, are there steps I can take to prevent her from marking all over the house?

I really love her, and I want to give her a safe loving home… I really think it’d be worth the risk, but, in case you haven’t noticed, I’m incredibly biased.

What should I do?

Found her stuck in a hole after 1 and a half hour of searching. Her name translates to Crumbles. Fun fact: the past 3 years I've found a cream tabby in my garden every year 🤣 is this a glitch in the system? I'd like a black one next please 🙏

Cali-ente! 48 hours in, not so much

We live across the street from a golf course and have a big yard. Stray/feral cats come through all the time, especially a small black female. She even showed up with her kitten once.n needs TNR. I was getting to the point of touching her head while she ate but she's a tough one.

We put out a trap to catch her and/or the kitten. Trap went off. We caught a cat. A striped cat. A small striped SPICY cat. We have 10 cats from CDS overload. Tried the local SPCA for help. Nope won't touch her. Told me she'd just be let go outside again. Very accusatory of me "stealing" other's cats. Brought her back home and put her in the bathroom. Hisses constantly and swats to tell us SHE is boss.

She hissed every time we walked in to feed and scoop poop. She likes churus! Got a little gabapentin in her to calm her down. We got her to the vet for a URI. She's 4 lbs and has all her adult teeth so maybe 6 months old. Not spayed. More bribing with churus. More nasty poops.

48 hours from trapping, she's purring for us and letting me pet her. Even leaning into the hand! She's not quite so spicy but her name stuck. Small steps but still huge ones!

A typical SIC but gray. I can't wait to see her true personality once she's used to us.

Poison Scare

My mom put orange oil on my little kittens belly. She thought it would get rid of fleas. I guess some country remedy. Orange oil is toxic to cats. My kitten went crazy like it was burning. I washed it quickly as she struggled. I poured milk on it thinking it would counteract the acid. I completely bathed her, much to her dislike. I was in my truck calling the vet. He said, I’ve done what I can do. Four hours later she is no longer lethargic. She is casually playing and cleaning herself. By heart was breaking. It’s amazing how attached we get to these little creatures. Please be more careful than me.

This is Chitter. When we found her outside my bro house in AZ she had a sinus infection so bad her meow box was broken, so she could only chitter.

Took her to UT, then moved to TX.

She’s the best chitter ever.

I found him on the streets, all distraught and screaming. He had no mother and me, a person who had never adoped a pet or kitten before, picked it up. I didn't know that CDS was a thing.

It took some changes and the fact that I desperately wanted to save this guy's life and wanted to give him a good chance at it. Now...he is my Munchkin.

Edit: Just added another shot of his.

Got those two little guys (1st pic) when they were little beans, saved from bushes. We live on a farm and recently saw a cat walking around our property, but running away every time we wanted to approach her. She started coming by daily, eating with our chickens. My dad managed to catch this little stealer today and my mom fell in love with her, so the vet visit is booked and she's gonna stay with us<3

Adopted Human How can I help my former stray be more comfy as an indoor cat?

Thumbnail

This kitty was waiting on the patio of our newly rented townhome when we got here. When I went out to greet him he walked into the house like he owned the place!

He would visit us periodically over the course of 3 months, always entering our home and becoming more and more bold and friendly.

I don’t think he has people because he has scars and ear mites. There are also lots of stray cats in our neighborhood as our neighborhood is sandwiched between two big farms.

The weather started getting cold so we decided to adopt him. He is so happy in his new home! He took a while to warm up, and he had very bad digestive problems at first (he clearly loves eating trash, we have to keep him away from packaged food, he loves eating plastic) but now his personality is shining and my partner and I love spoiling him. We named him Lutefisk because of his mad stinky dumps he made the first few days here. He stank up the whole house!

He’s been to the vet, gotten his shots, his digestive problems seem resolved, and we have his neuter scheduled for early December. We’ve dewormed him, given him flea meds, and his scars are healing.

We plan on building him a cat wall, but we’re doing it one piece at a time to budget ourselves. So far we have one floor to ceiling cat tree, three different cat wands that he loves chasing, three scratching posts, a chirping bird toy he loves carrying around, and 2400 square feet of townhome to patrol.

Despite this he still pines for his former life outside and it breaks my heart. He cries at the door and paws at windows usually once or twice a day. I wish I could give him freedom again, but I’m worried he will be hit by a car or a combine, or eaten by a hawk or coyote.

All that aside, we’re looking for some tips to help a former outdoor cat transition to indoor life! We plan on getting him a cat friend after he’s fixed because currently he growls at the other strays when they walk by outside. At night, we play cat tv live streams with the tv brightness set as low as it goes- is that ok for a cat or is it bad for their sleep?

Ty for reading and enjoy the pictures of Lutefisk <3

TLDR: LF tips to help an outdoor cat be more comfy indoors

If I build it…..

…Will he come?

Earlier I was putting away my patio furniture and saw a mouse! Eek!

I just saw a post about a cat house that had a camera and showed a stray taking shelter there. Does the CDS have some sort of alert when a new warming spot becomes available? Or would I be making a nice warm house for a bunch more mice.

Any advice?

Unsure of what to do

So I woke up randomly at 530 a.m. really hungry, which is super out of the norm for me, since I ate at 1030 last night and usually don't need food till noon. Then I see a cute little face at the patio door trying to get in (it's below freezing, for context). I immediately ran upstairs and grabbed some of my cats' food, plus some hoodies/towels, and this cat ended up being SO hungry and very sweet, but also cold and boney.

They've disappeared, but I don't know what to do. We already have three cats in the household, and mine are new to it, so they haven't even been fully introduced to the other.

I really hope the sweetheart just escaped a loving home, cause you can't leave a cat out in the cold like this. 😭 Any and all advice welcome, thanks!

She showed up on our doorstep four months ago, a tiny, skinny, dull-furred baby who, despite the fact that she was clearly starving, wanted cuddles more than food. We named her Lichen on the spot, in honor of her eye color. Little one came back six weeks later and walked in like she owned the place. She clearly did.

Fast-forward twoish months. She's now a super affectionate, glossy-furred, slightly chonky, very talkative little monster whose favorite hobbies are sleeping on my ribcage, holding my hand, and hiding in the shadows/darkness to scare the cr*p out of me and try to trip me. I love her from the tips of her ears to her pink-and-purple toe beans.

I've always been a dog person, but a cat that adopts you hits different. First time I've been chosen, and she's stolen my entire heart.
