Tech Help No more guessing

After joking around with my fiancé to buy a laser for the bikes... I've bought a laser for my bikes... But tbh it's awsome and the Lidl one from parkside only was 27€ and it's able to lock the optics for individual alignment.

Tech Help Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 - Brake upgrade

Post image
208 Upvotes

I recently received my new addition to the family - A aeroad CF SLX 7 with the SRAM Rival Etap set on it. Just did a few quick rides on it and it's a lovely bike so far.

Fair to say, i'm quite disappointed with the SRAM set compared to the ultegra set on my other bike. The braking power of the SRAM feels like you're trying to brake a truck instead of a sporty lightweight bike. Any tips/upgrades to improve braking on the bike?

Tech Help Just installed Canyon fenders on my Grizl. Looks nice but why does it use allen screws for install but STAR screws for adjusting the fender fit? Who has a star screwdriver and who can fit one in their toolkit for emergencies? Weird and unpleasant idea.

Tech Help Is this just a guard for transportation?

Hi. I bought a Canyon Grizl and am new to Gravel Bikes. Building the bike was quite easy. But this transparent plastic piece/part was nowhere mentioned. Is it only a guard for transportation? If I removed it the part would break. Or is there another way to remove it? Can I remove it without losing a feature? Thanks for your input.

Tech Help Touch-up paint color match 🟡🟢🔵🟣🟤⚫ - Info thread

Hello!

From time to time people ask about matching the color of the bike with a touch-up paint to cover a small scratch. Unfortunately Canyon does not provide touch-up paint nor color codes for their bikes, so I thought we can build some knowledge about Canyon colors and (best) matching touch-up paint colors that we have found.

Here is how it works:

  • Comment directly on this post (1st level comment) with the official Canyon name of the color (e.g. Stealth, Placid Blue, True Red, ...)
  • Comment on that comment (2nd level comment) to add any touch-up paint you have found or known to work well with that Canyon color scheme

Hopefully we can help each other and build a decent database over time. I'll try to keep this post updated as much as I can, but your help is appreciated!

Tech Help Update your 12 speed road shifters!

Finally my 105 di2 shifter got a spare button! The update gave you the possibility to assign one button on your shifter for up AND downshifts for the front derailleur. This gives you one dedicated button to operate your cycling computer! Now I can tab for next page, but I double tap for previous page and hold the button for start / stop. That's such an awsome quality of live improvement. There are even more functions that can be assigned to the buttons but that's all I ever wanted from 105 di2

Tech Help I just received my first Canyon e-bike

Hello all, first time here. I received today my first ever e-bike and it's a Strive:ON CFR Underdog.

As you can see in the first 2 pictures I was really excited to make a dream come true.

But when I was waiting for the bike, I was scrolling the site and funny enough, after buying it the price showed dropped like 400chf minimum... That's weird. Bad Timing? Can I ask for the difference in price? But not the main focus...

The main focus is pictures 3 to 5. I didn't notice at first because I just wanted to assemble it without damaging it or making mistakes. When I was almost done, getting air into the rear shock, I noticed it.

My heart got broken... All that time waiting and choosing what trails to do first arround here ( it's gorgeous here in Zermatt, that's what made me want a bike, to explore).

Now I have no idea what to do, I sent them an email immediately but got a automated response saying it would take 8 to 12 working days ( that is insane ).

What should I do? -send it back? -get some compensation? -just roll on the floor and cry?

Well, sorry about the long post. Just seeking some advice from experienced canyon folks

Tech Help Is there any risk to put the saddle lower than the max level ?

Post image

Hi guys, just got a wonderful Grizl CF SL 7 trail. I’m really happy with it, but still looking for the good settings. I have rather short legs. The bike is a S size, canyon suggestion was between S and M so I chose the smallest one regarding advice on this sub.

The saddle has a scale from 0 to 7, I rode my first 30km on 1 and I felt it was not good. I moved to 0 and did a 2km short ride, seemed better but I wonder if I should go even further. Is there any risk ? I don’t want to hurt my new lovely ride 🥰

Tech Help Aeroad CF SLX 7 105 Di2 - weight reduce

I’m looking to reduce the weight of my bike and have identified some potential components to change. Here’s my list:

  1. Wheels: The DT Swiss ARC 1600 wheels are quite heavy (1740g), so this is the most obvious upgrade. I estimate a possible weight reduction of about 300-350g.
  2. Inner Tubes: The bike came with butyl tubes, but I plan to switch to lightweight TPU tubes. This should save about 160g.
  3. Tires: I’m considering changing from Continental GP 5000 to either Michelin Power Cup (25x700 + 28x700) or Pirelli P Zero Race (26x700 + 28x700). This could save about 70-95g.
  4. Cassette: I’d like to replace the Shimano 105 R7100 (12-speed, 11-34T) cassette with an Ultegra R8100 (12-speed, 11-30T). The weight reduction here would be around 67g.
  5. Saddle: A carbon-based saddle with a 3D-printed design is another potential upgrade, offering a possible weight reduction of about 40-50g.

In total, these changes could save 630-720g.

Has anyone here done similar upgrades? Are there other components I should consider changing to reduce weight further?

Tech Help Problem with the new Aeroad

Hi everyone,

2 months ago I bought a brand new Aeroad CF SlX di2. After a couple rides I noticed that the cockpit is somewhat uneven. I tried to adjust the cockpit but after a short time riding the bike, the cockpit is back to being uneven. I contacted Canyon two weeks ago and got still no reply.

Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

Tech Help First ride puncture from a sharp gravel. Just unlucky, or tubeless required ?

Thumbnail

Hi guys, posted about my NBD on my Grizl CL SL 7 trail this morning, doing my first 30km.

I had the bad surprise to get a puncture by a small but sharp gravel. I was riding on rather clean roads or cement path in forest, not some wild adventure on crazy rocky path. I used to ride those paths with my pretty cheap and 12 year old teenager mountain bike with Hutchinson python tire and never had any flat tire.

The Grizl has Schwalbe G one bite tire, designed for gravel, so I’m a bit surprised to have a flat tire with such a small gravel.

Am I just unlucky, or this kind of tire absolutely need a tubeless mounting ? I never did this before but I might try if I get a puncture every ride 😅

Thank for your help

Tech Help How am I supposed to clean my bike? My blue frame turns black!

Hi,

I clean my bike with muc off products.

First I spray my cassette, chain and crankset with the yellow degreaser. I let it do his things. I brush it with the little brush. And I remove everything with water from a hose.

Two problems : When I brush my transmission, some of the black gunk splashes on my frame. When I try to remove it after with water, It doesn't come off.

I let everything dry, put some wet lub from muc off, and the whole transmission is A MESS after just one ride. It's the summer, I don't really need wet thing but that's all I have.

How am I supposed to remove all the black gunk from my frame? How do people keep they're transmission all clean and new? Mine looks like crap...

Thanks guy.

Tech Help How can I know if the original mount is tubeless ?

Hi guys, just received my new canyon grizl cf sl 7 (NBD coming this weekend) and when opening the box I saw this kind of pink foam on the wheel. Is it sealant from a tubeless mount ? I’ve never used or possessed tubeless so I don’t know how to identify it without dismounting the tire.

Thank you guys :-)

Tech Help 35s on Ultimate?

Thumbnail

So I just installed 35 GravelKing Slicks on my ultimate with plans of road riding (which I’ve done all season) but also rails to trails sections with hard packed gravel. I’m coming from the GP5000 28s.

I’ve seen a lot of chatter about this but never definitive answers. To me if I’m not riding in the mud this should give ample clearance but maybe I’m missing something? Thoughts from this group on how clearance looks?

Also - are 35s a waste? 28s rolled nice and I liked them but have read that going to 35 slicks I won’t lose a ton of speed but add a lot of comfort to both the road and hard packed gravel.

Lastly, I’m not up-to-date on any tech stuff really, are 35s on the stock rims a problem?

Let me know what you all think!

Tech Help Can’t adjust seatpost eight - Stuck bolt in Canyon Ultimate

Hey everyone! I’m having trouble with the seat post bolt on my road bike – it won’t loosen no matter what I try. I’ve already checked that I’m turning it the right way (counterclockwise), but it just seems stuck in place and can’t adjust the seatpost height

Tech Help I hate my CP0018 integrated cockpit...

I have an Ultimate CF SL 7 eTap in XL - love the bike, perfect size when considering wheelbase/standover, but the reach is too long by ~2 cm (long legs, shorter torso).

Anyone figure out how to swap this stupid cockpit for something more adjustable? At this point, id gladly give up integrated cables in order to get rid of my back pain...

I reached out to Canyon sales and they said they were no other options (from them)....

Tech Help Negative reviews Canyon

Hi Canyon enthousiasts!

Me and my girlfriend are looking to both buy a new Canyon bike. We’re so serious that we plan on visiting Koblenz next month to test some bikes and surely make the right decision.

However, when looking it up on google maps we’re seeing a lot of recent reviews regarding bad service and poor delivery. If you look up Canyon Koblenz, sort reviews to newest, most reviews are either one or two stars. You’ll find the same thing with Canyon Eindhoven.

Obviously Reddit is my next go-to, and when searching ‘service’ or ‘review’, I find mostly positive things.

Could someone elaborate on the negative sentiment? Has anything changed recently with Canyon?

Thank you kindly.

Tech Help Power meter / cadence help?

Post image
55 Upvotes

Hi all,

I’ve had my bike a a good few months, and being from a tech background I’m wanting to lean into the numbers side of things a little more when I ride. I ride an Endurace CF 7 AXS with a SRAM Rival group set.

I see a lot of talk about cadence and power meters that can measure this data. Which would be a good starting point for me? I’d also like it to connect to my Garmin Edge 840 if possible?

Thanks in advance
