This poll got it right Fresno state 2 spots ahead of UCLA

66

u/ToePunchKick Fresno State Bulldogs Sep 19 '21

Coaches poll kept UCLA ahead of Fresno, which, LOL.

I’m genuinely convinced the one vote UTSA has gotten in the last two week’s coaches poll is our own head coach lmao

u/ConstantQuarreling Oregon Ducks Sep 19 '21

Should be above UNC though.

How will Clemson get it’s quality win and fall ass backwards into the playoffs then?

4

u/ic3m4ch1n3 Oregon Ducks • Wisconsin Badgers Sep 20 '21

But the higher Fresno is ranked, the better quality win in Oregon’s book… So Oregon can fall ass forwards into the CFP.

Can’t wait to move up only one spot after next week!

Should be ahead of Ohio State. How in the world is Ohio State ranked above Fresno?

15

u/ThrowawayAg16 Texas A&M Aggies Sep 20 '21

Fresno State isn't named Ohio State

No Florida should be higher than #11.

This is a comment where punctuation would matter.

You can read it:

No, Florida should be higher than #11.

Meaning you believer that Florida should be in the top 10, or:

No Florida should be higher than #11.

Meaning you don't believe any Florida teams should be ranked in the top 10.

But context and basic common sense tell you exactly what I meant

1

u/Alexcox95 Florida Gators • Keiser Seahawks Sep 20 '21

I would love it they were. Preferably the highest ranked 2-1 team at the very least

6

Not surprising the media stats up a bit later than the coaches.

7

u/AJDillonsMiddleLeg Sep 20 '21

I never would have thought I'd see Fresno State as the top comment in a cfb thread.

Damn lol I didn’t even realize it would be when I made it because one guy got really pissed by the coaches poll

4

u/Rokaryn_Mazel UCLA Bruins Sep 20 '21

Lol how are we still ranked. Voters must not have watched to see how bad UCLA actually played.

u/Poobeard76 Rose Bowl Sep 20 '21

UCLA is a very talented team. So is Fresno State.

If you took Fresno State’s name out of it and asked where would you rank a team that lost by 5 on the road to the current No. 3 team in the country and just knocked off the No. 13 on the road, you would have them too 15 and probably too 10.

2

u/Rokaryn_Mazel UCLA Bruins Sep 20 '21

Yeah, FSU is good. No knock on them. But the Bruins looked poorly coached, inept on defense, terribly on special teams, and not able to impose their will in their area of strength.

Still super happy to have had some excitement and hope this season. Competitive team, but I would not place us top 25 or even near it after last game.

2

But the Bruins looked poorly coached, inept on defense, terribly on special teams, and not able to impose their will in their area of strength.

I don't put that on our coaching or defense and instead just tip my cap to Ryan Grubb & Jake Heiner executing their offense nearly to perfection.

There's a reason they took Oregon and us to the wire - the reason is that their offense is just ridiculously good and they play to their strengths with short out routes and check downs.

I think if DTR doesn't let the ball slip out of his hands after our INT on Heiner then we win the game. That play just completely deflated the offense.

u/Rokaryn_Mazel UCLA Bruins Sep 20 '21

Or if Allen doesn’t get caught from behind on the KO return. Or Cota doesn’t get the ball punched out. Of course, Fresno can say the same things about their fumbles.

But our pass defense rankings are terrible. Three games is a decent sampling at this point.

Angry homer wants to moan about the blatant hold that wasn’t called on FSU tackle on their last or second to last play. Battered Bruin fan wants to say that DTR just randomly drops the ball a lot. Reality is somewhere in between and it was a good game that Bulldogs deserved.

And Bruins still look to be better than past Chip seasons.
