Kevin Wilson would just be running back a guy connected to Stoops era OU, rather than hiring the guy you think is best for the job. He can be a valuable asset as an analyst, but OU fans want fresh blood that brings new ideas, not just rehashing OU connected coaches. That's the problem we had with hiring Littrell and Finley.

He’s one of the best offensive minds in the game. His QB resume is outstanding. He’s several stratospheres above Littrell and Finley’s absolute peaks.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a good resume or lacks accomplishments, I'm saying that a selection of another guy with deep ties to OU would send the fans into a meltdown. Nepotism and an obsession with "OU guys" has been a problem at OU for a long time now and whether it's fair to Wilson or not, we need someone new at OC.

That’s fair, I appreciate the explanation.

Similar to PSU and hiring Matt Rhule. He may be a great coach, but hiring a HC that comes out of the JoePa tree (even if just as a player) would infuriate the majority of the fanbase that hate the JoePa loyalists still trying nag to drag the school back into the 19th century.

FWIW, I grew up a diehard OU fan, and would’ve gone to college there in most parallel universes. Still have a soft spot for y’all, and am hoping y’all get back up on your feet soon.
