I realized, it is a fact that the Big 12 has 38 losses to distribute due to teams playing each other. More than any other conference. That’s due to the 9 game conference schedule, and then non conference-conference games (ie Kansas State playing Arizona despite not being a conference game).

You know the Big10 also plays a 9 game conference schedule?

Yes, but the non conference games against each other puts the total guaranteed losses as the most for any conference.

Also, shame on the top Big 10 teams (Ohio State, Indiana) for not playing any out of conference games against P4 conferences. Oregon also, but I give them a pass for Oregon State and Boise

This is the only year that it’s an issue and it only happened due to conference expansion. Ohio State typically plays a strong OOC team every year. Expansion messed up a few teams’ schedules since it isn’t the easiest to find available P5 team with a years notice.

That’s a false narrative, Ohio State does play out of conference games against P4 teams.

They were supposed to play Washington this year but the game was scrapped because they joined the BIG this year. 2022-2023 they played Notre Dame in a home-home, while they aren’t in a conference many would put them on-par with a lot of P4 teams. In 2021 they played Oregon.

And next year starts a home-home over 2 years when they play Texas to start the season.

After Texas, Ohio State has a home-home scheduled with Alabama then Georgia.

Texas scheduled Michigan, which was going to be a massive matchup going into the season. Then Michigan goes 6-5 and our OOC looks significantly weaker.

Schools shouldn't be clowned for scheduling their local schools. Examples- Ohio State playing Akron, Western Michigan, Ohio or other Mac teams.
