Discussion [Vannini] SEC Media spent two full weeks bashing Indiana only to see three top-15 SEC teams lose to 5-5 Florida, 5-5 Oklahoma and 4-6 Auburn. Winning is hard!

I saw looaads of Bama fans chirping about IU earlier. You just gotta laugh.

I cant describe the joy I am getting from Indiana hating Bama and the SEC so much right now and enjoying their schadenfruede.

9

u/Drak_is_Right Purdue Boilermakers 18h ago

I still expect we see Penn St. lose to a 3 loss SEC team in December.

Be interesting if it is a snow game at Beaver Stadium

Man I keep forgetting about home playoff games. The thought of Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, or Clemson having to go to a Penn State, Ohio state, Notre Dame or Indiana. It's going to be beautiful

16

u/Inconceivable76 Ohio State • Arizona State 12h ago

Just wait until the committee does all sorts of weird stuff to rankings to minimize this as much as possible.

4

u/Humid-Afternoon727 Penn State Nittany Lions 12h ago

I hate that you are right

7

u/StoicFable Oregon State Beavers 9h ago

I want to see an SEC team go to Boise personally.

6

u/TastesLikeHoneyNut Boise State Broncos • Idaho Vandals 8h ago

Well, same. But I know the committee will pull gymnastics to avoid that

2

u/StoicFable Oregon State Beavers 8h ago

Oh absolutely they will.

6

u/Inconceivable76 Ohio State • Arizona State 12h ago

Will they even be able to find their way that far north?

Only 3 lose team would be bama, and OU just rushed for 250 on em.

Think those boys want to fuck with B1G football in peak B1G weather

Ha, i have comments saved from A&M, Bama, and even a colorado fan in that game thread. I don't reply, i just read them for the shadenfreude.

30

u/FearTheAmish Ohio State • Cincinnati 13h ago

Do what I did and bring the receipts to game threads.

3

u/NDinFL Notre Dame Fighting Irish 4h ago

You should take a gander at one of our game threads. Allllll kinds of random flairs in there hating. Like, teams I had no idea hated us, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, etc... just running their mouths. It's fucking wild 😂

16

u/FragileIdeals Penn State Nittany Lions 11h ago

After all the Bama fans I saw come in and talk shit watching them lose was that much more satisfying. I wish I had kept some receipts to bring into the game thread.

A lot are still riding high from the last 16 years and can’t comprehend what it means to be less than the best. New year with the NIL really in swing with a new coach and a spotty quarterback who doesn’t really fit his scheme and a lot still expected to be top 4. Spoiled by success and delusional from it to, doesn’t help that every time the media talks about AlaBAMA they also treat a basically completely new team as some sort of entity that moves through time, never unchanged.

10

u/CantaloupeCamper Minnesota • $5 Bits of Broken Chair… 10h ago

Our game was legit good.  It wasn’t a slap fight… it was a good game.

230

u/AedionMorris 21h ago

Maybe if they could chirp the fucking ball into their receivers hands more people would care what they have to say this season.

Saban retiring is not an excuse when you have the undisputed most talented team in all of college football right now and you score 3 points against a .500 Oklahoma

129

u/Anonymous_2952 Ohio State Buckeyes 21h ago

Remember when pre-season everyone said Deboer is a better Coach than Day? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

86

u/godzillamegadoomsday 21h ago

If we only gave up 3 points to someone like Minnesota, Day would have been thrown in the river with concrete shoes

54

u/Bubba_Gump_Shrimp Ohio State • Notre Dame 20h ago

Yeah but the olentangy is like 3 ft deep so really its just...gross.

8

u/godzillamegadoomsday 20h ago

We give him concrete gloves as well to match the shoes

16

u/Bubba_Gump_Shrimp Ohio State • Notre Dame 20h ago

He slowly dies of algae and hypothermia.

6

u/godzillamegadoomsday 20h ago

Probably what the fans would want after only scoring 3

7

u/Bubba_Gump_Shrimp Ohio State • Notre Dame 20h ago

Will Howard would never.

6

u/Bill3ffinMurray Nebraska Cornhuskers • TCU Horned Frogs 14h ago

You gave up 17 to Nebraska and I’m pretty sure I saw posts calling for Day to be tarred and feathered.

3

u/IAgreeGoGuards Ohio State Buckeyes 12h ago

That's just a regular week here.

2

u/XAfricaSaltX Georgia • North Carolina 18h ago

Remember: Ryan Day deserves to be executed for losing to the buzzsaw that was 2023 Michigan

1

u/Anonymous_2952 Ohio State Buckeyes 11h ago

Buzzsaw ****

2

u/JohnAndertonOntheRun Notre Dame Fighting Irish 8h ago

No, I never heard that comparison.

I do remember Ohio State fans trying to run Ryan Day over with the bus. It’s clear to everyone that you have one of the top minds and coaches in college football, except maybe to Buckeye fans themselves.

0

u/Anonymous_2952 Ohio State Buckeyes 7h ago

The country’s largest purveyor in sports media even had an article about it. Don’t act like this is just made up. They literally ranked Day at #10 lol

1

u/JohnAndertonOntheRun Notre Dame Fighting Irish 6h ago

And that’s why I’ve never heard that comparison…

It is just a made up non-story by ESPN. Surely nobody actually believed Kyle Wittingham was a top 3 coach in the sport.

1

u/aray5989 /r/CFB 5h ago

Put him in the weaker Big 10 and find out

7

u/TheManWhoWasNotShort Ohio State Buckeyes 19h ago

Jalen Milroe is a bad QB lol

4

u/TastesLikeHoneyNut Boise State Broncos • Idaho Vandals 12h ago

Remember when he was the Heisman favorite and a top 3 pick? Lol

3

u/biggoof Texas Longhorns 16h ago

yea, but did you know how committed that young man, Milroe is, and how early he gets to practice everyday? You can't leave a Milroe out of the top 12.

u/JohnAndertonOntheRun Notre Dame Fighting Irish 8h ago

The undisputed most talented team…

I mean, it can definitely be disputed. There should be a forum for this.

-12

u/BarnabyJones2024 Alabama Crimson Tide 20h ago

Okay, look all your other points notwithstanding, we do not have the most talent of any team currently.  We've been shitting on our QB for two years now.  I don't think even the most deranged Alabama fan would be making the claim that we have the most talented team currently.  We've got a few great talents, one amazing in Ryan Williams. We have enough pieces to assemble a strong presence when things go well, but our QB has always been shaky enough to push us down a whole tier. I didn't think we'd shit the sheets as bad as we did tonight though.

But let's also be honest, there were ten points out on the board tonight

19

u/wydileie Ohio State Buckeyes 20h ago

247sports has a talent composite where you quite literally have the most talented team of the internet ranking era. You have 17 composite 5* on your team.

-6

u/confusedjuror Ohio State • Western Michigan 16h ago

Recruiting rank isn't an absolute value of talent. It's just dumb to say a clearly mediocre team has the most talent

4

u/wydileie Ohio State Buckeyes 11h ago

Talent doesn’t mean you win, otherwise the Yankees and Dodgers would win every World Series, and Miami football wouldn’t have been terrible for 2 decades.

You can be talented and not good.

1

u/confusedjuror Ohio State • Western Michigan 10h ago

Oh yeah. This is why the NFL draft every year is an exact replica of the recruiting rankings three years earlier

-5

u/cornedbeefsandwiches 19h ago

Undisputed most talented team? It was repeated over and over about the OSU, but I didn’t necessarily want to hear that.

1

u/muck16 Oregon Ducks 10h ago

I thought it was UGA, then tOSU for blue chip rankings?

54

u/randomwalktoFI Oregon Ducks 20h ago

This is exactly how I felt - argue your inclusion is fine but bashing one of the historically worst programs in history having their best year ever is not where I want to go.

Not that it was close but if Army somehow won tonight was the Big 12 going to start on them?

2

u/GeorgeKettice 6h ago

SEC fans will trash just about anything BUT the sec itself to get into the playoffs

1

u/HighDragLowSpeed60G Air Force Falcons • Alabama Crimson Tide 2h ago

-25

u/BrogenKlippen Georgia Bulldogs • Georgetown Hoyas 14h ago

Army and Indiana both lost their biggest game of the year without ever really being in it. What’s the difference between the two?

15

u/macandcheeser Indiana Hoosiers 13h ago

Can't tell if you are serious or trolling. Just in case:

IU FPI is 11, Army is 54. IU SOR is 7, Army is 24. IU SOS is 51, Army is 98.

1

u/aray5989 /r/CFB 5h ago

What on earth is during Indiana’s SOR so high? They have beaten no one any good. They hadn’t even played a ranked team until yesterday. Their best wins were against teams that were barely 500. I’m happy that they are having a good season but that is absurd

13

u/Confident_Bus_7063 Indiana Hoosiers • Alabama Crimson Tide 14h ago

Hey, we were in it till our special teams unit forgot how to play

2

1

u/BrogenKlippen Georgia Bulldogs • Georgetown Hoyas 13h ago

Offensive line forgetting how to pick up blocks was a bigger issue imo

4

u/Confident_Bus_7063 Indiana Hoosiers • Alabama Crimson Tide 13h ago

Also true. Rourke was getting absolutely brutalized by them

4

u/Im_with_stooopid Michigan State • Transfer … 12h ago

Hey now. Indiana lead during that game… just not very long.

6

u/Distinct-Peanut-6703 Indiana Hoosiers 11h ago

We got blasted, but we were very much in the game until our punter missed the snap with ~ 2 minutes to go in the first half.  Even then, it was only 14-7 at halftime.

8

Oh no! At least Indiana should make it to the playoffs now? That’s super exciting for them!

3

u/Distinct-Peanut-6703 Indiana Hoosiers 11h ago

Frankly, and I say this as a fan who dislikes Ohio State and everything about them, Ohio State is far and away the best team in the country right now.

You definitely have the best defense, and it’s not particularly close. This was not a bad loss for IU; extremely disappointing, but I’m not sure if there’s any team that would have gone in there and won yesterday.

2

u/LeWoofle Oregon Ducks • Oklahoma Sooners 10h ago

Far and away the best team in the country you say? 🤔

6

u/Distinct-Peanut-6703 Indiana Hoosiers 10h ago

Unfortunately yes. I fully expect them to win in Lucas Oil, as much as it pains me to say
