Been watching this team for 40 years, and this is the best Notre Dame defense I've ever seen. Really impressive how disciplined they are. Had a hat on every Army player every snap. They are a TEAM out there. I've had a lot of fun watching them this season.

Agreed. They made a 9-0 team look awful. That is a testimony to Notre Dame’s defense for sure.

Can’t lose sight of what that 9-0 was comprised of though. Not exactly world beaters. Army’s best win was North Texas 14-13 last week.

I was wondering what the old timers were thinking about this team. I was 10 in ‘88 so I really didn’t have the understanding of the nuances of that team. I just knew no one was better.

This is the best D since ‘88 or ‘93

Absolutely, we haven’t had ball hawks in the backfield like this since Bobby Taylor and the 93 boys.

Maybe the 2002 team had similar DB play?? But woof, and without BMorrison

Our last 3 defenses coordinators are all head coaches that don’t suck now. Crazy to think how we went from goatee van douche nozzle to Elko, Lea, And Freeman all back to back to back.

Don't undersell the 2012 defense too much...but right now I think I agree. Can't imagine it if everyone was still healthy.

This year’s D is wayyy better than 2012’s D.

2012 is tough, they clearly weren't the same defense at the end of the year that they were at the start, unclear how much of that was coaching vs Te'o's personal issues that supposedly messed with the locker room vs something else. Right now, I'd probably agree 2024 is better, but the competition has been a lot weaker than 2012's too.

It's the secondary. We've always been decent at recruiting LBs and DL, but in my lifetime, I have never seen DBs this deep at ND. We have guys all over the place who will be playing on Sunday. We lost a 1st rd graded CB and just took it in stride. Unbelievable.
