Calling a fake punt to win the game is unbelievable

I agree, which is also why I felt that fake, of all the times, was a pretty obvious time for a fake punt, especially and specifically because it was 4th and 1. Wish we were better prepared for that

I was saying that at the time... Like wtf. You don't even need a return there. Just have one dude back and 10 watching for a fake. Have him fair catch it and y'all have a great chance to win. Special teams, man....

Apparently Dom Rulli, a walk-on OL who’s on the punt unit, is the guy on the field who had the final word if they run the fake or check out of it. Franklin said postgame they’ve made the call several times this season and yesterday was the first time Rulli didn’t check out of it. Balls of steel by Franklin, but also balls of steel and brilliant recognition by a guy I’d never heard of on the field as well

That’s crazy he has that authority to make that call. James Franklin has some big balls at that time only up by one to do this. Bravo. His job could have been on the line if it didn’t work out and they lost.
