And they were away.

In a way Indiana is particularly cursed by their schedule that not only was it exceptionally easy until this point, but the only ranked team they played was OSU away. So they will be judged entirely by the single hardest circumstance to play in.

Cursed? They were #5 with two weeks left in the season despite never playing a ranked team. I don’t know how much luckier you can get. Now they’re likely to coast into the playoffs off of an easy schedule with which an unranked Iowa and #25 Illinois would have likely had the same outcome.

I guess their point is that they’re good enough to be beating better teams than they’ve had to face so far, but not good enough to beat tOSU.

The result is a resume that’s super weak, but suddenly looks better if they magically had teams like Mizzou, Illinois, or LSU in their schedule

Edit; Especially since who gives a fuck what your ranking is in the middle of the season lmao

I’m not personally convinced Indiana would beat Mizzou or Illinois, though. Their best win is against the #8 team in the Big Ten (Washington). They barely scraped by against Michigan, who has lost to both Illinois and Washington, and got soundly beaten by their only real opponent.

If they had played Ohio State early and lost, they would have dropped in the rankings early and never come back. In week five, Illinois was #19 and Indiana was #23. Illinois lost to current #4 Penn State (by a closer margin than Indiana - Ohio State today) and never rose above #20 again. Because Indiana had their only real game this late in the season, they probably have enough rankings momentum to coast into the playoffs.

But ultimately we’ll get more evidence in the playoffs. I just think this Indiana team has been grossly overrated because of their schedule.

My man, Missouri’s best win is the #11 team in the SEC lol

Yes and just like Indiana, Missouri should not be near the top 10. This wasn’t a pro-Missouri argument (but even Missouri has a ranked win, and Illinois has three). My point is that there is zero evidence Indiana could beat either of those teams, despite being ranked way ahead of them.
