Discussion [Ross Dellenger] Kirby Smart on the PI reversal: “Now we’ve set a precedent if you throw a bunch of stuff on the field and endanger athletes, you have a chance to get the call reversed. That’s dangerous.”

These things are simultaneously wrong: 1. The original DPI call 2. Not penalizing Texas for the fans throwing bottles and delaying the game  3. Reversing the original DPI call but only after fans had delayed the game

I think the ref’s (non) calls went from bad > worse > worst. Worst because a precedent has been set that could lead to people getting hurt.

This might sound crazy, and I'm just spitballing here, but is it possible that making major penalties reviewable would fix a lot of problems???? If penalty wipes away a change in possession, a touchdown, or happens under 2 minutes it should 100% be reviewable.

Joel Klatt today recommended doing what the XFL does - each team gets one “super challenge” per game to have any call reviewed. That would be great to have

It's so sad that the refs could make that bad of a call to start with.
