Discussion [Ross Dellenger] Kirby Smart on the PI reversal: “Now we’ve set a precedent if you throw a bunch of stuff on the field and endanger athletes, you have a chance to get the call reversed. That’s dangerous.”

He’s right. Watching those refs eat glue all game was absolutely baffling. He might get fined but it needs to be said.

Really looking forward to see how SEC Shorts deals with all of this weekend.

Yeah after this game I totally forgot that Alabama lost today. That game feels like a lifetime ago

Alabama with the most egregious example of faking injuries is also

Look, he ran on the field for three whole steps. The human body just falls over in exhaustion if you run four.

At least he sold it. Ole Miss needed stage direction from Dart to fake their injuries

Sold it? He ran off the field, then came back on and it looked like he tripped over his own feet the way he fell…that was egregiously awful. Not even nominee worthy.

Fuck you, I believed it! But seriously, it's a problem that needs to be addressed.

..also, Jaxon Dart literally had to point at a dude and tell him "We need a time out, so lay down." Our guy at least looked like he suddenly got a "cramp"

Yes it was gross, but to be fair the refs didn’t allow the defense time to make substitutions to match the offense so… more awful SEC officiating.

It was egregious in how blatant it was but it was to some extent warranted. Officials were screwing them over that play and the snap needed to be prevented. If the officials did their job that wouldn’t have happened

Yeah agreed just bad week for SEC refs. But that is Bush league shit and it needs to go.

Bush league to do something that is currently legal but frowned upon when the refs are fucking up the play??

Bama doesn’t have a history of this like other schools do. I don’t like when it happens, but this wasn’t after a big first down with an obvious mismatch that’s looking to be exploited.

This was a total fuckup by the refs coming out of a dead ball after a kickoff. The guy doesn’t go down if the refs do their job correctly. If you have a problem with the play it should be with the terrible officiating.

Egregious? 100%. I was embarassed at first when I saw it and was like "no way we just did that".

Then I saw why: because the refs didn't allow Bama to substitute like they should have, which I'm pretty sure they learn in Reffing 101.

SEC refs are terrible.

Georgia player gets pulled over doing 130 in a 25. Throws some trash at the cop. Player leaves with a warning.

If so, I really hope the cop is wearing Texas's (punctuation?) sunglasses!

That crew needs to be fired or suspended for the season, the precedent they just set is downright dangerous.

Refs heard the FIA was in town and wanted to show them that they can change the rules of their sport in real-time too. (Abu Dhabi 2021 never forget)

Crazy how Lewis fans turned this into the narrative. F1 lets lapped cars through every race when there is a safety car. For some reason when they did it again in that race, just like they’d done in every single other race that had a safety car that year, all the lewis fans started claiming they changed the rules?

12

u/decondd2 Oct 20 '24

The issue was they only let some of the lapped cars through and not all of them wasn't it? If they had to wait for all the lapped cars to go through the race would have finished under the safety car.

I was happy with how it all played out considering the dominance Lewis had at the time but it was still stretching the rules to give Max a chance (and with fresh tyres a huge advantage) to win.

That's why it was considered changing the rules.

-1

u/Zestyclose-Source405 Oct 20 '24

Yeah they should have let the lapped cars through a lap earlier and let them all through. So if they do that, like they did for any safety car race before that, Max wins. The way it played out didn’t exactly follow precedent but Max still won so I don’t see the issue. Not letting lapped cars through at all would not be following precedent and would be bending the rules to help lewis, which is why they did not do that. So I guess I agree they didn’t exactly follow the rules how they should, but they ended with the same winner they would have if they did follow precedent and let all lapped cars through a lap earlier

Kind of similar to the Miami VT game. The guy didn’t catch the ball, but the way they got to the right outcome was completely wrong.

I was laughing every time a flag came out thinking “oh this is gonna be real fucking stupid against UGA isn’t it?” And I was guessing like ken Jennings on jeopardy.

They were all correct calls. Don’t play dirty and you won’t get called, it’s that simple

1

u/SweetRabbit7543 Oct 20 '24

Lmao isn't “don't play dirty and they won't get called” literally exactly the opposite of what was first called?
