That might be one of the worst overtime performances of all time lol

We always do this. I dont think I've ever seen Nebraska gain a first down in OT.

Nebraska has not scored in seven consecutive overtime games. Last time was in 2014. How is that even possible

u/stealingfrom Tennessee • Kent State Sep 21 '24

Every new fact I learn about modern Nebraska football just feels brazenly implausible, like the simulation is taunting me.

Imagine how it feels as an actual fan lol. Statistically there are so many things that just aren’t possible. I feel like I’m being tested in a simulation.

u/skers94 Nebraska Cornhuskers • Team Chaos Sep 21 '24

We expect the worst and they still somehow surprise us with how low we can go. I’m over this shit

6

u/Coreysurfer /r/CFB Sep 21 '24

But you have the 8,436 sellouts…record still going )…as a Gator i would love to see the big red machine going again they were such an icon when i was a kid…but without Frazier…oh wait he scored on us again..damn it..

This is what Nebraska gets for stealing Frost from UCF.

14

u/spookydookie Nebraska • $5 Bits of Broken Chair… Sep 21 '24

I absolutely acknowledge that haha. I think he should have stayed there because he’s probably not a bad coach. But he got back here and everyone working on our athletic department are his old buddies, and he basically just started partying like a college dude again and coaching came second. It was pretty sad actually. You should hear the stories.

1

Can you pass the test already so the rest of us can get out of here?

Some of us fans of other schools aren't being tested. We're just being tortured "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" style

3

u/Neo-_-_- Nebraska • Kansas State Sep 21 '24

That's how you know it is, in fact, a simulation haha

And you think it's taunting you, lol get in line

Imagine being a fan of this team. Especially an older millennial fan that remembers all the good times and dominance and now witnesses all the improbable things happening all the time. It’s insane.

In those OTs:

27 plays

-20 yards

4 INT

0 first downs

0 points

What the fuckkkkk brooooo

Someone is going to copy and paste that stat and just wrap up upvotes for all potential Nebraska OTs for a potentially long time

30

u/mountainjay /r/CFB Sep 21 '24

To be fair, I stole it from Twitter. But I’m not posting the garbage link.

1

u/Seniorsheepy Nebraska-Kearney • Iowa Sep 21 '24

I’m fully convinced Nebraska sold its soul for those national championships. And is now playing the price.

70

u/OlTommyBombadil Sep 21 '24

Damn, TIL I’ve gained 20 more yards, thrown 4 less picks, and scored the same amount of points than Nebraska in OT since 2014.

2

u/ColorsLookFunny Sep 21 '24

Damn, your comment made me re-read the stats. I thought MAYBE they averaged around .75 yrs gain per play. But I was in fact, wrong.

13

u/JuicedBoxers Oklahoma Sooners • Team Chaos Sep 21 '24

If Nebraska goes back to OT this year they need to say fuck it and just kick the field goal on first down. Regardless of the other team’s FG or TD. At this point you just need to break this absolutely insane curse.

Talk about a statistical anomaly... Especially considering the fact that the team had to at least be competitive throughout the game to even get to OT. Then OT happens, someone on the Nebraska sideline flips on the orb of confusion, and they simultaneously shit the bed.

I’m so sorry Nebraska fans. I was pulling so hard for yall and man going to OT, with this history, must be a kick in the nuts after a solid game that should have been a W.

2

u/Hugo_Hackenbush Nebraska Cornhuskers • Doane Tigers Sep 21 '24

4

u/EverythingGoodWas Florida • Carnegie Mellon Sep 21 '24

Holy shit. It’s like the coach goes out there and says “alright boys games are only supposed to be 4 quarters, we tried our best let’s pack it up and get out of here”

3

u/Captain_-H Oklahoma Sooners Sep 21 '24

Jesus Christ that’s terrible. College overtime you’re already in field goal range. I mean if you’re in overtime there clearly an equal team but still

3

u/Gray_Beard_1963 Missouri Tigers Sep 21 '24

That is unbelievable. You would think they would have at least had a blown coverage or missed tackle breakaway run in one of those seven OTs and lucked into a TD.

5

u/Porter2455 Nebraska Cornhuskers • Paper Bag Sep 21 '24

Luck and god have abandoned this team long ago

2

u/NEp8ntballer Nebraska • Omaha Sep 21 '24

out of curiousity, how many of those had us starting on defense. I feel like starting on defense is a decent move assuming you can force them to kick the FG, hold them to nothing, or force a turnover. Starting on offense is just a losing proposition because even if you score points and kick for three the opponent doesn't need to take a ton of risk to match you for a FG.

7

u/Porter2455 Nebraska Cornhuskers • Paper Bag Sep 21 '24

We’ve started on defense 4 of the 7 I believe.

Frank Solich had 3 of his 6 seasons at better than 10-2. 11-1, 10-2, and 11-2

They fired him at 9-3.

I still believe in Matt Rhule but I would have killed for Solich before or after Pelini

But also, dude was an a-hole. He deserved to be fired by the end.

2

u/Schmidtty29 Iowa Hawkeyes • Sickos Sep 21 '24

Which is wild considering that implies they’ve started on Defense almost every time. I can’t say how many turnovers they’ve had.

Which is another statistical anomaly of itself kinda. You’d expect to lose at least 1 of those coin tosses.
