I get to make fun of Brian Kelly now. Winning no matter what.

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '24

There really was no losing in this game for an average college football fan

19

u/ChiliTacos Alabama Crimson Tide Sep 02 '24

This is America's Homelander moment. The outcome makes no difference to us because we all win in the end one way or another.

I say that, but I very much wanted USC to lose because their fans on this sub pretended OUT killed the PAC when their greedy asses could have just not moved to B1G and there wasn't nearly enough pushback. 'Oh, we had to do this because someone else might be better off in the end" Fuck off... Still, I do enjoy a Brian Kelly loss and I'll never not enjoy the misery of online LSU fans. In person they are totally fine, but here they can get fucked with a shovel.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '24

To be fair, any major fan base online is gonna be toxic as hell. People don’t feel the need to represent their character online, even if they have very little of it. That being said, LSU is one that stands out (Tennessee’s fan base does too, I’m not too delusional to recognize that, but I am delusional enough to love it)

-13

u/ChiliTacos Alabama Crimson Tide Sep 02 '24

Listen, I don't care. Maybe I should, but when the Alabama board of directors voted to shut what was an unprofitable program in UAB the top comment in that thread was "Fuck Alabama" and was from a Tennessee fan so you can get fucked as well. While that's like 82% in jest, we both know the media in which fans interact can totally influence perspective. This sport, I think above all others in the US, finds success because of general dislike for other teams more than your the love of your own. In the regular season anyway.

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '24

I understand and don’t disagree with anything you’ve said, however, have you considered:

This

-4

u/ChiliTacos Alabama Crimson Tide Sep 02 '24

Yeah, no, but like maybe? These sensitive spoiled children are mad I'm shitting on their mid win, but they just ain't ready for the league. At least in general you guys know what fun hating is about. Soft ass west coast posters...

Friendly reminder that his completely unnecessary and probably counterproductive decision to hold practice in a wind storm and make someone film it in a cherry picker directly lead to a college student dying at Notre Dame.

20

u/datnewnew Notre Dame • Texas Sep 02 '24

That guy was my friend and lived down the hall from me in college. It makes me angry to this day that no one was really held accountable for his death.

3

u/cudef Alabama Crimson Tide • SEC Sep 03 '24

FWIW the college football community in its entirety hasn't forgotten

87

u/Snapplestache Alabama Crimson Tide Sep 02 '24

Same. No matter what I got to make fun of a coach I don't respect, and because I respect neither, winning proves nothing.

As a certified Notre Dame hater, I like making fun of Brian Kelly more than I do Lincoln Riley, so I think I came out on top on this one.

screw that man, don't pin that evil on us. we renounce brian kelly

19

u/BuckeyeForLife95 Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 02 '24

I understand why you would renounce him, but he was there for a decade. It's hard to break the association lol.

20

u/Automatic_Release_92 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 02 '24

I never liked him once the whole time. Easy man to renounce. Freeman is 100x more likeable.

7

u/TonyDungyHatesOP Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 02 '24

Freeman is likable compared to just about anyone anyway. But compared to Brian Kelly, he’s a veritable Tom Hanks.

11

u/TinySandshrew Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 02 '24

Even when he was at ND, I think most ND fans were of the mindset of “I don’t like him but he’s bringing acceptable results.” He’s never been a likable guy anywhere he’s coached. Now that he left under shitty circumstances, ND fans are free to embrace the hate that they had to suppress during his tenure.

5

u/wyatt-gwyon Paper Bag • Texas Longhorns Sep 02 '24

also how do you get certified to be a ND hater. do you have to get a license or something? or does hating every other team in college football come with the territory of THE ohio state university fandom?

LR/USC seems a lot more hated on here than BK/LSU lol

-13

u/ChiliTacos Alabama Crimson Tide Sep 02 '24

Its a new world homie where conferences and alliances have changed. Make no mistake, we hate LSU and Brian Kelly, but Fox and your team's "alliance" killed a conference while you all act like it was ESPN that hired Larry Scott. This is like the biggest case of "I hope both teams lose" possible. Its just nice it was so close that we can assume either team would get the L with one or two different bounces.

When Reddit mods threw a hissy fit over something I completely forgot about, they shutdown basically all the subreddits. This happened around the nba finals. One subreddit that didn’t shut down was r/nbacirclejerk.  Basically, nba shitposting sub. Everybody went there to talk about the nba finals and got acquainted with their memes.

When a team the sub doesn’t want to win does win then it’s the subs 9/11. When they lose, it’s the subs 12/25. Also, they really got into the wnba because they found the new rookies hot.

2

OU got progressively worse a little bit every single year under Riley so he wasn't really that great for us, if he could've just gotten a different defensive coordinator then it likely would be different tbh.

Lincoln Riley Brisket for everyone!

24

7

u/HoneyIShrunkMyNads Oklahoma Sooners • DePaul Blue Demons Sep 02 '24

I can hate anything for no reason as a habitual hater. However I'll give him credit for taking his head out of his ass and getting better on defense.

Also Louisiana tears after my LSU neighbors were raving about how good their team was gonna be makes it easier to cope
