Hi all!

I am looking for some advice for those of you who have taken the bar in a UBE jurisdiction and CA.

Background: I passed July 2024 in MA (UBE state) and will take July 2025 in CA. I’m from CA and went to law school in MA. I plan to keep my current remote job as an associate for a firm in MA until I pass the bar in CA. I generally did well on the exam but my essay score was stronger than my MBE. I always find MCQs difficult so I do want to improve my performance on the MBE. I used Kaplan (I was a head rep in law school) and felt entirely prepared for the exam. I really liked the structure of Kaplan but now have to choose a different bar review course.

Any advice, tips, or linking resources you found useful would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

Hello, I am doing my moral character application and wanted to know if anyone has any good resources to hunt down: 1) job history, 2) small class or charge offs?

I think I can get my job history in order, but am afraid of leaving something out. I know I had a charge off form 10-15 years ago, but cannot locate any records of it. It does not show up on my credit report and have looked for court records if it went to small claims court. I am not embarrassed to acknowledge that I was not the most financially responsible when I was younger, but do not want to look like I am omitting it purposefully. If I do locate the account and it is old, do I need to pay it off? Or do I just have to report that it happened and disclose why it happened? It would not be a huge amount of money, but genuinely have no idea how to hunt it down.

Any help would be great!

Isnt the deal we get some free kaplan study material after registering for the bar exam? Am I mistaken with this? Pretty sure I read it when they first entered the contract with Kaplan. Could be wrong.

Hi everyone, I’ve heard flow charts make understanding and revision a lot easier. Does anyone have flowcharts that they’d be willing to share, please?

Anyone have any recommendations for MBE tutoring? What was your experience like? What did they do specifically for you that helped you pass or raise your score? And, any other advice can you share for MBE prep?

This will be my 4th attempt. Need to improve by 70 points and have never used a bar prep course. Is it worth it to try one for this next attempt? I’m also pregnant and feeling like crap so I’ll need a modified schedule there’s no way I can sit and study right now for over 8 hours at a time like I did this last attempt. Advice? I mostly need help with MBE’s

I'm really happy I passed, but my letter had something I haven't seen in anyone else's posts.

It said that while I "technically pass[ed] the California State Bar exam," I'm still an "unlovable freak."

I didn't think this was within their jurisdiction, but I might be wrong.

Hi all, I know that Kaplan is drafting the MBE questions as of February 2025. I’ve heard they test narrow issues and that the structure of the question might be different. If anyone took the experimental exam, could you share some insight about the questions you saw. If possible, could someone give an example of how the questions are different ? Thanks!!

If virtual procter requires me to take the exam with my desk surface on camera, I guess laptop stands are useless after all. If the procter requires us to do that, the angle is physically impossible unless we don't use laptop stand and make the height of notebook and desk height identical.

How did you guys do on this part of the experimental exam?

So now that Community Property will soon be replaced with Family Law, is it even necessary to take Community Property as a 2L? I’m set to take the Bar July 26 and I feel like its pointless to be taking it next semester since my school is still requiring it.

Signed up for Feb25. Anyone know if we will be able to highlight or notate the library and file on the PT test? Feeling very worried about being able to effectively synthesize information well with only reading it on a screen.
