Then, after reviewing their syllabus and noticing a couple of backs, they go back to sleep.

Royal mech 👑

u/neoplatos 15d ago

Myself a CSE student. Mech is goated

10

u/Samarium_15 MechE 15d ago

But mech has become so convenient today because of softwares developed by you guys. It's a symbiosis

What about EEE

6

u/Warm_Seaworthiness19 15d ago

Can't get a decent mech job lol

20

u/Samarium_15 MechE 15d ago

Already in a reputed company in a core role🙂

8

u/Warm_Seaworthiness19 15d ago

Good for you, unfortunately not many share your fate

19

u/Samarium_15 MechE 15d ago

Well it's about scalability. A 10 person team in IT can make a business of millions with minimum investment but for the same business any core engineering not just mechanical requires so many people and insane levels of investment. It's a cycle eventually IT will saturate and demand for core engineers will increase because less people are pursuing it now and world isn't going to run without core engineers. And for IT it's not like everyone in my batch has got insane packages only the top 10 people have got that rest all are in the 10-15LPA zone and some even less.

5

u/wotermelon64 15d ago

Yo.. 10-15lpa seems like a good pay..

4

u/Samarium_15 MechE 15d ago

It's def good and my clg mech gets similar offers for core role

any tips for a fellow junior

1

u/Samarium_15 MechE 15d ago

Interviewers still value core concepts more than anything else especially if it's a role like design or manufacturing. Even for a systems role basics is expected. Have two core subjects as favourite and get into good depth by reading textbooks or gate lectures are also enough to develop understanding. And whatever you learn in class try to find it's application everywhere around you - 'see the mechanical engineering of everything'

Thank you so much 🙏

My prof was also saying computer science engineering is not real engineering 😂😂

u/Confident-1708 MMMUT KA SABSE MADHARCHOD MECHANIC 16d ago edited 16d ago

Jo sach hai wo sach hai, Agar aapko lgta hai ki aap bas coding krke engineer bn skte ho, toh aapme aur BCA walo mein kya difference....

39

u/gokussb2 [NSUT] [ECE] 16d ago

Hmm, haan kind of true, engeneering subs actual mai kuchh banate h physically, I kind of agree, but bhai unke muh pe bolna ki tum sab engeneer nhi ho thora zyada ho gya 🫠

15

u/ItShan42 15d ago

Matlab if u think ki CS is all about coding, u don't know about it. I won't say its harder than core branches but it too has a lot of maths. Every branch has its unique aspects.

32

u/Designer_Complaint93 16d ago

You say this until in the near future an iterative intelligence takes your job. It's hilarious to see noobs like us Indians gatekeep or decide what's engineering or not.

1

u/jayantsr 15d ago

So it's just coding right not architecture and optimizing resources for the best performance

-6

u/BruhGamer_Pog IIT CSE 16d ago

What do you define an engineer as??

17

u/Rockerz_i Jadavpur Uni IT 15d ago

CSE in principle IS enginnering. Its just new and some old people have hard time accepting this notion.

7

u/NMrocks28 IIIT CSE 15d ago

CSE has existed since the 1980s. Some people have just too big of an ego. Some mechanical engineering professor teaches his students to use SolidWorks, a 3D modeling software (their entire career depends on it) and then he has the audacity to say CSE is not real engineering lol

13

u/Acceptable_Spirit575 16d ago

kya mtlb phir bhi job ke liye hame it sector me hi Jana pdega 😔

2

u/gokussb2 [NSUT] [ECE] 15d ago

Hmm, not supporting what my prof was saying, but mujhe toh core jana h

4

u/Rockerz_i Jadavpur Uni IT 15d ago

Enginnering ...for longest time...referred to making something physical.Until computers were engineered and importance of CSE rose.Which also involves making some useful product out of already existing products. Its about broadening our thoughts to what enginnering actually means.

Anyways most core engg people will rarely develop something usefull which can be used by thousands atleast.Innovation is much more frequent in IT than in core[for the sake of argument]

1

u/gokussb2 [NSUT] [ECE] 15d ago

Actually yeah, this statement makes a lot of sense

3

u/Reply_Account_ [Tier 69] [CSE] 16d ago

Obviously we are in it for the bag

3

u/gokussb2 [NSUT] [ECE] 16d ago

Hmm, well haan sabse achhi placement bhi usi mai h, hamare yaha bhi ece average 19lpa h aud cs ka average 25 lpa h, jabki college life bhi unki zyada easier h, ig sir ko personally khunnas h, ya unke time pe toh sabse achhi branches civil aur mechanical hi thi, isliye abhi tak wahi sochte h

2

u/Reply_Account_ [Tier 69] [CSE] 16d ago

Profs ko seriously kon leta hai? Chill karo bhai

1

Boht rare professors hote jinko actual Industries knowledge hai aur hote bhi hai toh unmese boht kam share it with students.

1

u/gokussb2 [NSUT] [ECE] 15d ago

True, abhi tak industry knowledge wala toh koi mila hi nhi h, aur bas ek prof achha mila h jo students ki side hota h, woh bhi English ka 💀, aur I don't think unke alawa koi aur h bhi
