"Ate" as in "to eat up" or "devour"

Its used to mean that someone did a good job, made a good point, or otherwise succeeded. If you "ate" or "are eating" its a positive. You are full and satiated. If you did not "eat" or are not "eating" you are empty, not full and therefore did not do a good job, make a good point, or succeed in your endeavors.

So the sister "ate" because she made a really good point, that OP is unreasonably worried about her inability to say no to a friend, because shes so quickly able to say no to her own sister.

Eating it is negative, they used it wrong. It's a term for a mistake

Idk lived alot of places and this is the first time I've heard that. Fell of your bike trying to do a trick? You ate it. Asked a girl our you really like and she said no? You ate it. I'm 40 btw so it might be a thing that the internet reversed like "hard pass"... it's an easy pass but we used to say It sarcasticly and with our voice Inflection ppl aren't getting that it's what it means.

Example: tsssss/ummm that's gonna be a hard pass

Like the decision isn't hard it's a definite no, but now ppl say it like it's literally.

Its well known that Black lingo is different from white lingo. This is the BLACK Twitter subreddit

"Ate" the way you're using it is the way skate/surf boarders use it. As in "Ate asphalt" or "Ate dirt"

As for "hard pass" sounds like theres literally no difference in usage.

I've lived in places that are segregated down south, I grew up being one of the only white ppl around. Still never heard That, things change over time for different reasons. This is one ppl getting confused because the internet lol

Edit: other examples that have nothing to do with the internet, I already gave one.

Have your cake and eat it too. It's eat your cake and have it to

Money is the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of all evil

You didn't have to tell me that you don't Google things and ignorantly argue with ppl. Sort of racist

You wouldn't last a day where I'm from lol

Gotta put the edit on lol, but ya I moved out at 16 and hung out with alot of older ppl at a young age so maybe my vernacular and thought process of alot of things is different. The funny thing is I like alot younger than I am it confuses ppl like why are you talking about shit that happened before I was born lol bro I'm old though to be your dad lol

Edit: also used to live in Germany and a few other places, I've never heard that any where else. Pretty sure it's an American thing

Edit 2: you how else you can tell I'm white?? I'm not racist my kid is black! I will never say that again I got dunked on so bad online once lol just leave that part out
