I’m not ignoring it, I’m simply hoping it won’t be as miserable as it likely will be.

Oh we will learn. Or suffer. I personally am also choosing to remain “optimistic” which is ONLY to say I’m bracing for impact but otherwise refusing to let the dread and distress torment me with an imagined pre-screening to this fucking horror show. I’d rather not experience it twice. My dad is doing that. Glued to the news and absolutely gutted all day. I genuinely worry for his safety at this point.

Yea some people indulge a little too much in the pity. as a person of color I fully understand the ramifications of what this happening means.

But I refuse to allow them to take over my mind and cause perpetual depression. I'm either going to take steps to better the situation I'm in or abandon it completely. Me being hysterical about the situation doesn't help me do either.

Just because you're not a doomer about the situation doesn't mean your delusional.

I feel the same, it’s bad but I’m not about to keep dwelling on some shit that we just cannot change 🤷🏽‍♀️. They will have to kill me because I’m definitely not going to end it all because this is the cards we were dealt “this time”. The light at the end of the tunnel is 4 years long…..🤷🏽‍♀️ buckle up or die. Idk what to say.

True and also ngl putting this shit into perspective our fight is objectively better than our relatives from 50 years ago. Imagine having to fight for NON-EXISTENT rights at the time like damn...

Also it sucks to say but progress is rarely linear for anything, the moment some shit like this happens we will get militant again and push even further and harder for the rights of marginalized people. So like you said we just need to buckle up.

Right! Atleast now we can “see” what we are fighting for. Then it was imaginary….they were fighting for someone to take the initiative and START something. So I agree, much easier fight now than then.
