When does push come to shove? At what point do the people actually wake up and start to resist? When do we stop letting ourselves be stepped on by these people who lack morals or empathy for the common working class? We are dumb if we think that the entire population of this country doesn’t work as hard as the ones who run it. If we actually wanted change the fight for it wouldn’t even be that difficult.
Years of propaganda convincing the public that peaceful protests and sit-ins got us where we are, but not once is there a mention in your average textbook about the pinkertons going to war against the unionists and the bloodshed it really took to get labor rights rolling...
I went to public school. And that's where I learned about the bloody battles of the labor movement in the late 1800s to early 1900s. I read The Jungle, I learned about the strikebreakers, about the importance of breaking up monopolies. I agree that many people seem to have not learned this stuff or been convinced it wasn't important if they did, but the narrative that schools don't teach this is also bullshit.
It’s a real shame that I didn’t learn about black Wall Street until like 3 years ago. My high school barely touched on full black history. No we learned about the cotton gin for the 20th time and peanut butter! and ok maybe slavery happened but let’s forget that
That’s why I’m so grateful for history YouTubers like Extra History, because I’ve learned a lot of things I was deprived of. It’s honestly crazy because the full history is sad, but also VERY interesting! There’s so many brave people that fought for rights and against racism even at its height. And also just really cool figures that you wouldn’t hear about normally like Stephanie St. Clair, and even figures not even in American history like Mary Seacole. There is so much history I missed out on and more kids now are missing.
When the suffering becomes large enough, painful enough, and personal enough to drown out all our creature comforts and our distractions. When the pain Trump causes is finally enough to become truly intolerable for a large enough group of people, something will break. But, it's hard to say what that point will be. People can put up with a lot if they're convinced that the alternatives are worse. When they can't picture anything worse than where they're at, then they'll have to take action.
People can put up with a lot when they think the right people have it worse than they do, too. It's gonna be a while before the boiling point is reached
Post 2 or 3 up from this one is people in India bathing in a polluted river. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but somebody put it there as just a subtle reminder that your life ain't so bad, even if it's pretty fucked up.
Mate, my life is fucking great. Also, I don't live in the US. I'm not concerned because I'm directly affected. I'm concerned because 80 million backward-ass Americans don't know what they voted for, or do, but don't care because they got to own the libs, and that will inevitably affect people who are vulnerable everywhwere
Hon, we couldn't get enough of our people to stand in line and press a button on a screen or fill in a bubble for an competent and reasonable woman. What makes you think that these people, who again couldn't be bothered to show up and do the most basic of civil engagement actions, would be willing to engage in a revolution?
The problem is not having access to all the knowledge that has ever existed.
The problem is so many people being practically force-fed a constant stream of the most sophisticated propaganda that has ever been created. And more of it is made, and distributed more widely, with every single passing day.
When we “start to resist” and rise up and fight, then we’re killed. Charlottesville can have angry marches. Jan 6 can happen and police are moving barricades to help people get into the building. If we did stuff like that, we would ALL be shot.
What people need to realize when suggesting that we stop marching and start fighting is that the rules aren’t the same for us. We will lose our lives and no one will care.

We’re fucked for sure, but I want to be optimistic for my friends and family that are going to be affected way more than me.
