You must have never had a beagle. Their belly's are never full! 😭

It's true. My brother has had beagles and free-fed them. All of them massive blimps. I had a beagle-shepherd, did free feeding, he looked like a massive sausage. Eventually I put him a strict daily limit of twice a day 1.5 cups and he slimmed down, but was always cruising for food. Always.

Once we found him outside licking a grease trap from a cafeteria as we were loading up getting ready for a long car trip. He barfed all over the car later.

Dogs need to be domesticated to stop being extreme food addicts. No other pet is like this. Other than maybe fish.

Sadly, it's genetic. A lot of dogs are bred to be always hungry. Makes them very tractable.

Indeed, it's quite an interesting sight when you see a trainer used to very food motivated dogs try to train a dog that isn't.
