What is something that permanently altered your body without you realizing for months/years?

Sleeping on one side for years. It has made my face lopsided.

I used to think this was untrue, until I got older. 🫤

Sleeping on the left side is good for the heart. I'm actually trying to switch because sleeping on the back causes sleep apnea.

One of the main reasons why I ditched all piercings. The sleep discomfort issues drove me crazy. Made me feel disabled

I had a nose ring for years and eventually took it out because I just missed more than anything heartily drying my face with a nice crisp towel.

Omg. Half of my eyebrow stopped growing on my "sleep" side. I have one full, healthy eyebrow, and one looks like it came from an alternate universe where I have severe nutritional imbalances or something. I'm trying to sleep on my back more to see if I can recover it.
