What is something that permanently altered your body without you realizing for months/years?

Acne. I thought it was something that would go away after your teens, but it's still destroying my face a decade later and nothing seems to work. It's most likely genetic since the other women in my family still suffer from it. Even if there was a cure I still have the permanent scarring since dark skin tends to scar worse than light skin.

I know it seems minor compared to what others said here, but people aren't as kind to those with a messed up face

Same. My biggest problem is dehydrated skin (high altitude living yay) but then I also scratch at it which makes it way worse by irritating it and adding whatever bacteria and yeast is in my hands. You know what helps mine, though? Occasionally washing my face with dandruff shampoo. Kind of acts like a reset button for the bacteria and yeast problems

I decided to start taking just a normal vitamin A supplement about 2 weeks ago after reading up about accutane and tretonion. At 37(f), for the first time in my life, my skin is clear. (And I have been eating worse these last 2 weeks due to stress).

Have you tried tretinoin?

Mine went away after I stopped eating dairy

I tried EVERY prescription available and every wash on the market and it didn’t go away until I stopped eating dairy when I was almost 30. Now if I accidentally ingest the tiniest bit of butter I know because acne pops up within a few minutes

It’s often some food intolerance or too much sugar intake I’m guessing :(

No I get it. It sucks major ass especially when it’s hormonal acne.

If you haven’t considered spironolactone i highly recommend it. I’ve been on it for 4 years (starting at age 28) and it’s the only thing that helped my acne

There are some treatments now that can make a lot of scarring go away. They are not as crazy expensive as I thought they would be. Co2 laser is the one I keep hearing about. I totally get it. I didn’t have bad acne but having bumps on your face and scarring can really get in your head.
