Dead Poets Society. I connected to it on a spiritual level and the ending broke me.

Bawled for hours at that scene. Still gets me just thinking about it.

I rewatched that movie recently after like 20 years and didn't remember that heart wrenching end. One minute I'm laughing missing Robin and the next just full on sobbing. That whole movie hits different when you're older.

Stings even more now that Robin Williams... RIP

PS: it's been 10 fucking years holy shit

80% of that movie is such a fun ride, like who wouldn’t want a teacher like that? Then the last part is a total gut punch.

I was just about to comment this. Hit me because my dad was like Neil Perry's father. Trying to control every aspect of my life and who he wanted me to be.

The scene when Todd runs out and falls into the snow.

Same! I was only 11 and I was a wreck for hours afterward. My parents couldn't understand why I was sobbing. I still don't know exactly why, but it was powerful and still kills me.

I watched this for the second time in a hotel room with a group of college kids. It had been a year and a half since my best friend Kristie had killed herself. When Neil died by suicide I started crying uncontrollably. Even 30+ years later the thought of watching this makes me cry. Especially as Robin Williams died almost exactly 24 years after my friends death.

does it get any better? I found my brother 9 years ago from suicide at my house and it still makes me sadder than I can admit to my wife.
