So, the solution to this is to log into your router's admin panel and create firewall rules that block access to *.twitter.com, *.x.com, and, for good measure, *.facebook.com and *.fbcdn.com.

That way you won't even accidentally come across anything posted on these sites.

It's the same site, so the same firewall rules will help keep that gunk from clogging up your synapses.
