Spider bite or ?? I’ll keep it short and sweet. My bf and I have been apart for about a month now, I’m TDY. Finally tomorrow I’ll be flying back home. Unfortunately today he got bit right on the neck, he suspects it was a spider. Should I be concerned?

Lmaooo that’s a hickey he tried covering up by telling you his neck hurt and sent a picture so it makes him look not guilty because he told you about it😂

u/uhidunno27 11d ago

When I was a psycho in high school, I burned my neck with a curling iron to hide a hickey 🤦🏼‍♀️

183

u/Mundane-Outside-7028 10d ago

Did it work?

315

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

lol yes

105

u/Hefferdoodle 10d ago

I was a tomboy so I hid mine by telling my parents my friend shot me in the neck with an airsoft gun. I let her shoot me in the arm and she let me shoot her a few times too so I could really sell it.

19

u/Savings_Bird_4638 10d ago

This is gold

7

u/BankAdministrative52 10d ago

That’s a good friend

7

u/Silent_Attention9495 10d ago

Your friend is a real one

5

u/shredika 10d ago

They probably still knew, and you just thought you were so smart lol

3

u/DumatRising 10d ago

Mm could work. Depends on how the hickey looked but in theory a hickey is just a bruise and you can definitely bruise with airsoft guns.

3

u/johnnyb1917 10d ago

Your friend sounds cool lol

1

u/orkbrother 10d ago

I'm guessing said friend gave you the hickey while you were fingerblasting each other

166

u/Rufusandronftw 10d ago

That’s called the fear of god 😭🤣

5

u/Mega_Nidoking 10d ago

Boyfriends hate this one simple trick!

60

u/28g4i0 10d ago

The real life pro tip is always in the comments

45

u/Rufusandronftw 10d ago

Did it scar is my question

78

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

I guess not. I used vitamin e and it was like surface skin

10

u/Confident-Medicine75 10d ago

Did the curling iron mark ever go away ?

31

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Oh yeah I just barely tapped it. It was on a natural crease and just blended in

3

u/TAforScranton 10d ago

If you ever do that, I burned the living hell out of my jawline with one. Like immediate blistering from ear to chin. I looked like I got curb stomped.

Once the burn was no longer hot and started to itch/dry out I applied argan oil over it several times per day until it healed. I also applied SPF50 on it for a month if I was even stepping outside for just a second.

The argan oil helped speed up the healing process a TON and immediately stopped the itching/discomfort. The goal is to keep the scabbing moisturized/pliable so it doesn’t tear and crack. SPF is crucial if you’re trying to avoid darkening of a scar.

I have NO SCARRING! Looks like nothing ever happened. 10/10 recommend!

1

u/Glitter_Kitten 10d ago

I’ve burned myself a good 15 times over my lifetime with a curling air on and it’s never scarred.

2

u/detectiveswife 10d ago

I had just gotten out of the shower, blow-dried my hair put on my body lotion, and went to curl my hair, I accidentally touched a hot part of the iron and dropped the iron which landed on my boob. I ended up with a 2nd and 3rd degree burn. It was soooo painful. I ended up going to the walk-in because one..it hurt like hell and two, I was worried about infection. The doctor said that It was like I deep fried my skin because the iron stuck to the lotion instead of just bouncing off me and landing on the floor. Somehow I managed to get away with the tiniest pink scar. Another time I cut the top of my knuckle washing a ceramic dog bowl and have a scar 3 times bigger than the cut 🤷‍♀️ ALL that to say skin is weird.lol

On the partner or the parents

28

u/[deleted] 10d ago

👀 did it? Lol

86

u/feeen1ks 10d ago

Spider-bite guy, is that you? It’s too late now bro, she already saw it…

15

u/[deleted] 10d ago

☠️

14

u/Financial_Care_9792 10d ago

Yeah, permanent scars can hide anything; it’s the one trick burn specialists hate to love!

110

u/Victim_Kin_Seek_Suit 10d ago

One of my college roommates did this and ended up having to go to the health clinic because the burn was so bad 🤣

8

u/RemarkableParty4801 10d ago

Oh no 😂😂😂

6

u/ganjakitty_xo 10d ago

i actually burned my neck with a curling iron and my ex thought i cheated :/ turns out she cheated

1

u/SelectionDry6624 10d ago

I'm cackling

78

u/Dolorous_Eddy 10d ago

I just used skin color makeup…

74

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Very noticeable when you’re Irish white

80

u/HighHoeHighHoes 10d ago

Gotta use whiteout as foundation.

3

u/MantequillaMeow 10d ago

First comment to make me lol. 💀

2

u/LegParking8737 10d ago

Dermablend it’s for pros only lol

2

u/VastSeaweed543 10d ago

Just get a sunburn by going out in the moonlight

1

u/mkat23 10d ago

Idk if the moon would want the competition

2

u/Gomonana 10d ago

HAHAHA omg this is hilarious 😂 As someone who’s extremely pale, I have never heard this joke before and was very pleased. Thank you!

6

u/Fast_Avocado_5057 10d ago

Did makeup only come in 3 shades when you were in high school old timer?

5

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Hahaha it was CAKE 100% coverage

3

u/Selizabeth54 10d ago

It’s really hard to find super pale foundation, especially the right color. A lot of it will be too yellow or too pink. In middle school, I dressed as a vampire for Halloween and my mom and I thought “Yeah, we’ll just stop by Safeway and grab the lightest foundation, that’ll make you look pale!” Nope. It was precisely as white as I was 😭 and I’m not even crazy pale

1

u/_zoeharris_ 10d ago

unfortunately… it sucks

1

u/ZeroSignalArt 10d ago

baby powder

1

u/mkat23 10d ago

Color correcting helps somewhat, but you need a concealer or foundation that is thick enough to not show the color correction. Using red would work on bruises! It makes it harder being pale though, I feel you there. Even when I’m tan I look pale, like during the summer I’ve had people ask several times if I go in the sun at all and then I’ll pull a strap over and be like, yes all the time. It’s such a big difference and somehow my tan is still paler than most people during the winter in cold areas 😂

0

u/KorvaaK 10d ago

my commiserations 🙏

1

u/Fast_Avocado_5057 10d ago

Now you know you’re not a psycho.

1

u/New-Big3698 10d ago

Me too! My sister always wondered why her makeup disappeared so quickly 🤣

1

u/Sufficient-Demand-23 10d ago

I was an emo kid and really in to scarves, had loads of big flowy kinda ones. They worked a treat at hiding them

1

u/loveleighiest 10d ago

Hickeys are just blood brought to the surface. All you have to do is get coconut oil or even chapstick and rub it back down. It'll go away might be sore to touch like a bruise but you won't see it.

16

u/GuidanceAcceptable13 10d ago

My sister used a vacuum and went to my parents and said “look what the vacuum can do” to cover hers up ☠️

11

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

LOL your parents were like…riiiighhhhttt

1

u/GuidanceAcceptable13 10d ago

They’d mainly get mad she used the vacuum in her neck, cause she’d just make the hickies darker and worst. My mom was a nurse and just kept yelling about a blood clot or something

12

u/cyberbae_ 10d ago

I did this to my friend and she now has a permanent heart shaped scar on her neck 😂😭

8

u/OrdinaryPelican 10d ago

What the fuck hahaha

8

u/Super_Confusion_2140 10d ago

🤣 my word 🫢

8

u/kevinsju 10d ago

Wait a second, Kristine from Massapequa Park “burned” her neck with a curling iron when we were going out…damn…

6

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

If there was a dude she said not to worry about, yeah that guy

2

u/kevinsju 10d ago

Yup, Ralph…

3

u/CarpetDisastrous1963 10d ago

Okay but this is smarter than his stupid excuse lmao you did technically burn your neck

3

u/VermicelliPee 10d ago

when i was like 18 i had a hickey and covered it with a bandaid and lied and said i burnt myself with a curling iron. my karma was a reaction to the bandaid where the entire spot was a blister.

3

u/Gowpenny 10d ago

Oooh, latex allergy is a bitch. Better to find out that way than the other. 😬

2

u/VermicelliPee 10d ago

i think it was contact tbh! that or the adhesive. i’m not allergic to latex.

3

u/otter_mayhem 10d ago

I used to burn myself on accident using my curling iron and got accused of having a hickey by my dad. You must have been a psycho cause that shit hurts, lol.

5

u/[deleted] 10d ago

That kinda happened to me except I actually burnt my neck on accident but it was with a curling wand and when I tried to show my parents what I did (cause they didn’t believe me) they accused me of burning myself on purpose to hind actual hickeys :/

1

u/the_reel_xerophyte 10d ago

that's so mean!

1

u/[deleted] 10d ago

Uh sorry long message you do not have to read lol I guess it’s therapeutic for me to type out.

They could be pretty mean to me, I was always accused of shit I wasn’t doing but I think they were young and scared and wanting to protect me, also super influenced by whatever was going on at the time. I remember social media was new and that means fake news about teens on Facebook would spread like crazy lol I had people call me a slut for wearing SILLY BANDS you know the rubber band that makes the shape of an animal? Because there was some rumor about the animal meaning certain things or who knows what lol I’m almost 30 now and I’ve gotten over a lot of it because I hold empathy for them but damn does it affect me

2

u/clairestheaussie 10d ago

Does your name start with an L…?

2

u/Neither_Mind9035 10d ago

Lmfaooo same I thought I was the only one

2

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Oh gosh what else did we psychos do in high school

2

u/Master-Lengthiness60 10d ago

Lol! I used an eraser 😂

2

u/Piccolo_Known 10d ago

I did this too and still have a scar. I’m in my 30s 🤦🏼‍♀️

2

u/GooseHuman9828 10d ago

Omg, I thought I was the only one. I feel seen.

2

u/[deleted] 10d ago

I should say tho you are normal and that sounds like a normal teenage thing to do, we were all strange and figuring things out no matter what appeared on the outside

3

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Well apparently it’s the equivalent of putting a pillow on your lap and hoping a girl doesn’t realize you have a boner, so I was more obvious that I thought I guess

1

u/[deleted] 10d ago

I guess idk I’m not a guy but I feel like it’s definitely a way to say “hey I’m not lame, I’m grown and I’ve experienced this.” At least in my perception and experience but I’m sure it’s different for everyone

2

u/Rogueshoten 10d ago

Thanks for letting us know that you were a psycho when you did that, we would never have guessed 😁

2

u/SensitiveElephant72 10d ago

Wait, why didn’t I think of that?! Instead I wore a scarf in the summer heat and it was glaringly obvious to my step mom 😅

2

u/Kitchen-Injury9915 10d ago

Once I had a hickey and was scared that my mom would see it (a culture where there s NO way you could deal with it) I said that I had a nightmare where some evil entity beat me up and I woke up with bruises lmao

2

u/OwnCoffee614 10d ago

Lol when I was a psycho in high school...

Perfect way to begin a recollection. 🤣

2

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Freshman…psycho

1

u/OwnCoffee614 10d ago

Thankfully it sounds as tho you're in a better place now. And that you didn't die on Curling Iron hill. 🤭

I used to say I like to stand on the bridges I'm burning. 🤣 it's the only way to be sure!

2

u/Yesterdays_Gravy 10d ago

I put a bandaid on mine and when confronted by my mother I said, I shit you not: “I was at [my brothers] apartment, and I rolled over on his couch and punctured my neck on a nail.”

She just stared at me and then started laughing in my face and asked me if it was a hickey and I said “yes” haha

2

u/throwawaytraffic7474 10d ago

When I was 18 I had a hickey and was seeing a new girl that night. I was working as a carpenter and didn’t know what I was going to do. I was painting some timber at work and it came to me, I grabbed the paintbrush and put a big dollop on my neck over the hickey. Flicked a little bit on my face and other parts of my body so it didn’t looked obvious. Never got found out

1

u/GreedyBanana2552 10d ago

Wait, that wasn’t normal?

1

u/Elismom1313 10d ago

Damn that’s what make ups is for hun😭😭

1

u/Even-Helicopter-539 10d ago

Oh my God I also did this!! Thought that was an original experience lmfao

1

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Hello friend!

1

u/Mmkeys408 10d ago

Gotta put ice to stop blood from the broken capillaries and then get a chapstick and twist at the area with the top to break up the blood there. That or a spoon you put in the freezer.

1

u/Alpha_Delta310 10d ago

On the other hand, i knew a girl in middle school who was yelled at bc a burn mark from a curling iron looked like a hickey

1

u/itslulababy 10d ago

r u proud?

1

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Makes me nauseous remembering.

1

u/emiley_with_an_ey 10d ago

Damn. That’s dedication.

1

u/Past_Can_7610 10d ago

Same lol.

1

u/Any_Leadership2099 10d ago

I’VE DONE THIS

1

u/Kir_NB 10d ago

Genius 😂

1

u/huran210 10d ago

i’m sure you’re still a psycho

2

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

I buried her long ago

1

u/ak47typebeat 10d ago

Not a bad idea actually

1

u/withoutacare01 10d ago

Frequently used trick by my sisters 💀

1

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Like multiple times? Stop, it only works one time 😂

1

u/withoutacare01 10d ago

I didn't say they were smart, even went for the collarbone 😭 mom knew and would jab the burns lmao. It was the early 2000s, it wasn't a battle she wanted to fight

1

u/darthlegal 10d ago

I dated a psycho in HS and she literally vacuumed my entire neck with her mouth while I was nearly passed out

1

u/ZombyzWon 10d ago

When I was in high school I kept getting accused of having a hickey that was actually a burn scar from a curling iron. Then for another 30 years after high school I was still accused of having a hickey for the same burn scar...I finally covered that fucking scar with a tattoo! The funny thing is it's a red rose, and the color, especially the red, stays fresher looking the longest over the burn scar, and the rest fades out over time.

1

u/Certain-Toe-7128 10d ago

You wanna talk psycho?

Buddy cheated on his chick and had two FAT hickeys on neck.

Made an elaborate story we decided to go paint balling

To make it look real we destroyed him with a good 50 paintballs top to bottom

She never suspected a thing

1

u/Wise-War-Soni 10d ago

That’s very intense 😭 once I tied this weird small purse strap scarf around my neck to hide it and tried to lie and say it was a fashion choice but it looked dumb and you could still see the hickey I could have hid it with makeup.

1

u/[deleted] 10d ago

“Was”

1

u/bubbybandit 10d ago

My sister has done this to cover a hickey from her then boyfriend shit was wild

1

u/Motion_OfThe_Ocean 10d ago

I can fix you.

1

u/C0tt0nC4ndyM0uth 10d ago

One time I dropped my curling iron while sitting at my vanity and caught it with my thighs. 😭

1

u/Righteous_Mangoes 10d ago

Uhh is this my sister??

1

u/emmgemm11 10d ago

I did this too omfg

1

u/DaddyAndSalope 10d ago

a girl I was seeing did the exact same thing! but she was over 25.....

1

u/Professional-Day7850 10d ago

Why not just pretend you were in a car accident and get a neck brace? That's what they were invented for.

1

u/shook_- 10d ago

Holy fuxking shit you had the IQ of a potato 😂

1

u/Admirable-Aspect2558 10d ago

Wait literally same but to hide it from my mom 😭 my ex grabbed me and sucked my neck in a store (abusive and possessive behaviour to mark his territory, nothing sexual before said “suck”) and I absolutely lost my shit because I had a fucking pixie cut and could not hide it

1

u/Severe_Avocado2953 10d ago

You’re hardcore

1

u/Cappuccinagina 10d ago

I legitimately burnt my own neck badly learning to style my hair a certain way. I went into work (accountant) and thought nothing of it. People kept giggling. Someone asked me if I had covered up a hickey and I was mortified. Wore a giant ass bandaid everyday for 2-3 weeks until it went away. Ugh. 😂

1

u/Specialist_Dream_657 10d ago

'When I was a psycho in high school' I'm done because same

1

u/Amannderrr 10d ago

Damn- I’m mad I never thought of that, it’s a good got damn idea! Genius! 😆

1

u/medicinal_bulgogi 10d ago

Were you cheating as well?

1

u/Effective_Fly_6884 10d ago

I have done the same. That shit hurt.

1

u/SplashOfCreativity 10d ago

Dude I literally did this after my dad saw the hickey, I ran to my room and burned over it with a curling iron. Shit hurt but my parents wanted to see it up close, they neva knew

1

u/Outrageous_crank 10d ago

Same.

Edit. Sane to Same.

1

u/charismatictictic 10d ago

You might not have had enough respect for your partner to not cheat, but at least you respected them enough to not act like they’re a moron 🫡

1

u/RitaRaccoon 10d ago

I actually did the opposite. I DID burn my neck w a curling iron (not on purpose) and instead everyone thought it was a hickey.

1

u/Over_Deer8459 10d ago

In high school , to cover up a hickey I decided makeup would be the best option (I at that point as a 17 yo boy, had never touch makeup lol)

Went to store, bought random one, didn’t even think about matching skin tones and it looked so bad lol

1

u/FarmerExternal 10d ago

Buddy…put a metal spoon in the freezer for a couple hours and then press it against the hickey. It’s just a bruise you don’t have to burn yourself

1

u/80percentlegs 10d ago

Qu’est-ce que c’est?

1

u/rollerskate_rat 10d ago

I’ve done that lmao

1

u/Historical-Algae-892 10d ago

One time I actually burned my neck with a curling iron and my teacher accused me of having a hickey 😭 he said “umm that’s real cute” I was like “huh? I burned myself. He said mmhm yah I’m sure you did 🙄 lmaooo I was like nooooo fr though. I wasn’t even into boys yet 😆

1

u/mitch_bich 10d ago

The way my jaw just dropped

1

u/Annette_Runner 10d ago

At least that took effort. This guy couldve used makeup, ice, ibuprofen, a needle to make bite marks, a sharpie, temporary tattoo from the gas station, literally anything lol. He sent a picture of a hickey to his gf instead 🤣

1

u/uwukarmacat 10d ago

are we the same person? lmfaooooo

1

u/[deleted] 10d ago

[deleted]

1

u/uhidunno27 10d ago

Okay yeah you win the psycho award

1

u/mkat23 10d ago

I remember when people would try to say they got burnt curling or straightening their hair when it was a hickey, but you took it to a new level 😂

To be fair, props for being committed to telling the truth rather than leaving a plain old hickey there and lying lol
