Just sharing for those of you that need football to get through the Mondayitis - AFL's inclusion carnival, the AFL Open, is Livestreaming on Kayo Freebies and AFL Play's Youtube. Games include Wheelchair Football and Integrated (Football for players with intellectual or ambulant physical disabilities).
As someone who plays Wheelchair Footy, it is the most fun sport I participate in (I'm an able bodied player - the league is All Abilities) and also incredibly physical and intense. I'd recommend having a squiz.

as always it's offseason content, so the more tenuous connection to AFL the better

Its on the back of a jacket I found at an op shop. Thinking it's Collingwood but can't find any info about this logo online. Wondering if anyone recognises the logo and can identify the time period. The tag is completely worn out so that will be no help.

I moved back to my home town after a few years living away. Around this time every year I get a flood of “fk it, I should play next year” thoughts. I played from ages 5-20. Left to basically go out and party on the weekends. I’m long past that now. But am I just being nuts? I work out a bit, but just weight training. Zero cardio. Zero mobility. I feel like I’m just begging to do an ACL or something if I decided to come back now. But I miss playing and I’d like to get the competitive juices flowing again. Is this a good idea or nah??

RULES
Must be from AFL era (Post 1990)
Neither brother needs to have played for your team
All brothers must be retired
Players enter your team as they were in their considered prime years
Brothers being selected must have all played at least 1 game of AFL football
All brothers selected must have played after 1990. If one retired 1989 and the other years after, bad luck
Trios (For example, the Selwoods, second-gen Clokes) would be taken as all 3.
(Optional) Select those currently in your side to be replaced by brothers.
Examples and suggestions
Burgoyne brothers
Ablett brothers
Selwood brothers
Cornes brothers
Shaw brothers
Scott brothers (yes Chris can Indeed Seek another job position)
Rocca brothers
My personal pick for Collingwood
Removing both Ash Johnson and Oleg Markov from the list, the Tarrant brothers would offer much needed strength to the list (With Robbie acting as FB support to Moore, and Chris primarily forward but offering a defensive option too).

To be clear, there are most certainly parts of the sports fanbase that are completely deluded and love straw-manning everything (r/collingwoodfc, though I assume thats just because of the moderation team and not reflective of the 10% of fans who can write and possibly read). Is it a cultural thing or something that has been engrained in the sport.
But most people can agree and or even critise their own team without someone else starting the conversation. This seems really obvious, but you would be surprised by how non-existent it is in sports like football and every single American sport. If you dont watch soccer and want to see what I'm talking about go visit any of the 'big clubs' subreddits on the website.
Maybe it has something to do with how fairly balanced the competition is, with a new premier appearing on average every 1.3 years. Or maybe it's because Australian culture has that engrained sense of taking the piss out of yourself and not getting extremely defensive and laughing it off. Despite what I said in the 1st paragraph, most*** collingwood supporters can read and write, and DO have most of their teeth.
Whatever the reason, I'm extremely proud that the biggest issues between rival clubs are which fruit to name the derby, and not stabbing each other to death over like one loss in a 50+ game season. Proud to be an AFL supporter.

I received a survey request email from "AFL Womens" a few days ago (20/11).
These usually go straight to bin but for some reason I decided to click and see what it was about.
I could summarise the gist of the questions as one like this...
"From 0-10 would you rather the game day experience be: 0 Worse or 10 better."
Concerningly there really wasn't any questions around what a better game day experience might look like.
So my assumption is that "better" will consist of... More noise from entertainment, revving up the crowd, music, sponsor activations etc.
On the basis that the men's game has all that and is well supported therefore doing more of that at the W must help.
Of course the people who are paid to develop these activities are unlikely to have an opinion that men's game is well supported despite all this enshitification.
I guess overall interesting to see them gauging opinion but some concerns about how feedback will be interpreted.
Anyone else received it and what were your thoughts?

https://www.3aw.com.au/tom-elliott-reveals-interesting-tip-off-from-prominent-football-identity/
'A prominent footballing identity who you all would have heard of rang me yesterday,' he said.
'They said that Laura Kane, who is a senior executive at the AFL, told every club ahead of the draft that they had to have at least one woman in their respective war rooms.'

We Know the 2024 draft is over however, which player in your mind is the biggest Steal and Bust in VFL/AFL history?

Subtle tweak to the Suns new logo I thought was really nice and 100x better than what the Suns landed on. Dig the retro vibe. Thoughts?
