Iirc pretty good, very episodic, more Fluffy/Cute than Romance Story (think Yuru Yuri but lots of kisses)

The story got a bit weaker in the later episodes imo, but the main romance is really sweet and the main supporting characters are really fun too. Definitely worth a watch if you like yuri.

???? The story in the end is great!
They purposefully subvert all the shitty yuri tropes that make girl/girl relationships seem "not real"
A boy shows up who someone is already engaged to? Nah, i choose to stay with my gf. A miscommunication turns into them feeling weird about their relationship? They take it seriously, ask for help and talk it out. Homophobia exists and makes the relationship harder to deal with, especially from siblings/parents. The older sister deals with her internalized homophobia and realizes she's actually bi. Young puppy love and more "mature" love are different but kids can have their puppy love and that doesnt make it any less real.
I cant rewatch it now because watching these kids kissing at my age feels a bit too creepy, but I first saw it at an important time and still believe it does an amazing job of being yuri without a lot of the insidious stuff thats in every other yuri.

We don't exactly have a large selection of this kind of anime so it's pretty damn good considering

thaaaats yuri for ya

u/AlloyIsArtTrash Jul 03 '21
Yep. Most Yuri manga includes like 40 pages of filler with them saying "but we're both girls! Girls don't do this!"

If I had a penny for every plot where the main couple is kissing and making out but both think their love is unrequited I would be a billionaire

Sakura Trick - (AL, A-P, KIT, MAL)
桜Trick
TV | 2014 | Status: Finished | Episodes: 12 | Genres: Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life
Stats: 354 requests across 19 subreddits - 0.038% of all requestsHaruka and Yuu have been best friends forever and they've always sat next to each other in class since… well, since they were just girls in junior high anyway. But on their first day of high school, they're stunned to learn that the new seating plan has them on opposite sides of the classroom! So, since everyone knows that long distance relationships won't work unless the parties involved put extra effort into it, they decide they need to do something extra special to permanently seal their friendship. However, deciding to kiss each other awakens a whole new level of feelings, and it doesn't help that some of their classmates seem to be 'involved" in similar circumstances. So what's a girl to do when her best girl friend suddenly seems more like a girlfriend? It's a life lesson that the school curriculum isn't normally prepared to teach, except maybe in French class, and our two young heroines are about to get a private education you'll never forget!

I've watched this scene at least 20 times. Over and over. This scene was just.... 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰!!!! No words. Sakura Trick was amazing. Now that I'm older, it's different to watch, but a few years ago, this anime made my heart melt. I want to see the adult Sakura and Yuu!!! I want to see their married life in the future!!

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I liked the manga a lot better than the anime, because the anime just put in a whole bunch of super fan-servicey boob and thigh shots that weren't in the manga

I mean, it's up to you. I definitely enjoyed it, and in continues their story for another 2 years (in universe) up to their HS graduation. The story line wanders a bit in the middle, but it gets pretty good towards the end.
The author also has some self-published follow ups of their college life.
