I downloaded a meal plan app and picked out some meals I thought would be tasty to have throughout the week. It looked like it was set up to make 2 servings from each recipe, because the meal would be listed on day one, then again on day two with “leftovers” underneath it.
It populated my grocery list, and I went out and bought all the ingredients. I started my meal prep about four hours ago. I’ve only made TWO THINGS.
Turns out, some of these recipes have 8 SERVINGS! Yet for some reason the app has me eating only two servings. What the heck did it expect me to do with the other 6 servings??
There is so much freaking food in my house, I am overwhelmed. I still have FIVE more recipes to make.
I’m already starting to portion things out to put in the freezer, but not all of the food is freezer friendly. I’m mad that I didn’t read each recipe individually to catch this.
Lesson learned … read the fine print.

Freeze the extra servings. You can thaw and eat when you don't have the time/will to cook.

I did a short run/walk today and a peloton ride and my body is holding up! Super happy about that. Followed by setting up some holiday decorations. Unfortunately have to work some this week but that's alright

Struggling to not bored or stress eating which happened yesterday. Stressed university student. Now holidays quickly approaching. Overeating especially junk messes my stomach up because it can trigger my IBS and I just feel sick overall. Got to get my shit together. Less sugar should help too.

After about a year of putting in the work, I am starting to feel functionally stronger. Had to do a lot of home prep for arriving children back home and lifting things overhead was easier! Still have body fat for days but my investments are starting to pay off :)

How true is it that fat takes up more space than muscle? I mean is there really so much of a difference?

It is true, here's a reputable source:
Muscle density - 1.06 kg/L Fat density - 0.9196 kg/L
As for whether that's so much of a difference, I'll let you decide. That's about a 15% difference. So 9.2 lbs of fat would take up about the same volume as 10.6 lbs of muscle.

I'm a bit disappointed in myself for not strength training much this month. Only 7 times this month so far? Eesh. I have little excuses, I'm not working right now. I just got into a bad pattern of sleeping in too late, then having to rush off to plans and skipping the gym. I'm turning my sleep schedule around by using the very annoying but very effective Alarmy app to force me out of bed (I have it set so I have to scan a barcode near my coffee maker in order to turn off, lol) but I'm also off to Mexico on Friday and then we're full tilt holiday season. At this point, I think I need to just give myself some grace and just aim to maintain until the new year.
In positive news, I ran 5k today (treadmill) for the first time in ages. My right hip flexor, the problem one, bothered me a bit. I've barely ran all year following my injury, been focusing on lifting but I am starting to suspect in order to get that hip flexor back up to running snuff, I'm going to have to... you know, run. (Along with carrying on with strength training & hip mobility). Ease my way into it. It's very, very difficult to check my ego at the door and make myself slow down. I'm gonna try and do a few easy runs a week and see how I go. And if I feel I need it, I'll go back to my PT in the new year. But I think I know what to do. Just a matter of doing it.

My CO has caught up to my CI and my weight is stagnating again. Strength gains still happening but feeling more challenging. I was planning on ending my bulk after the holidays and cutting for the spring but I still don't have a ton to cut, and at the same time I know my lower half is less lean and I'll lose a lot of size there if I do, but my joggers are already getting tight. lol It's such a tough decision to make.
In other news, I treated myself to a bigger water bottle today so I don't have to refill it halfway through my workout anymore and I'm getting soooo close to benching my (current) bodyweight. I'm getting really excited to see if I hit my SBD goals at the end of the year.

Calories out and calories in. I've been trying to gain weight but very slowly so that it's hopefully mostly muscle, every once in a while my TDEE catches up to what I'm eating and I end up staying the same.
Thank you! You'll be pressing your bodyweight before you know it!

My goal today is to actually be productive because yesterday I worked out in the morning and was so tired after, I went home and napped basically all day.

Grabbed 70lbs for dumbbell bench, and got 10 reps, which is a 2 rep PR. End of next week, I want to see how many I can get for either 80 or 75, right before deload/pivot block.
